Gautam Buddha University (GBU) is primarily a Research University situated in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. The university comes under the aegis of State government of Uttar Pradesh. The University provides research programs in the fields of technology, management, applied science and humanities.
While GBU provides PhD program in 9 various branches, it provides M.Phil. program in only two branches. The application procedure for both M.Phil. and PhD is online. The university organizes GPT for admission to M.Phil. courses and GPTR for PhD courses. For both M.Phil. and PhD, GBU organizes Interview for aspirants shortlisted via entrance test.
The M.Phil. and PhD courses on provide are all full-time courses except for PhD in Management and PhD in Biotechnology, where the university has provisions for working professionals as well. The research programs are also open to International aspirants.

Aspirants must have Postgraduate degree in Psychology from with at least 55% marks for general aspirants and 50% marks for aspirants who belong to SC/ST category from a recognised university in India.Ph.D. (Electrical Engineering) & Ph.D. (Mechanical Engineering)
An aspirant must possess the M.Tech./ME degree in relevant branch from any recognised university with at least 55% aggregate marks (50% marks for aspirants who belong to SC/ST category).Ph.D. (Business Management)
An aspirant must possess a masters degree in management in relevant branch from a recognised university with at least 55% aggregate marks (50% marks for aspirants who belong to SC/ST category).Ph.D. (Applied Chemistry)
An aspirant must possess Master’s degree in Chemistry from a recognised university with at least 55% aggregate marks (50% marks for SC/ST category aspirants).Ph.D. (Applied Physics)
An aspirant must possess Master’s degree in Physics from a recognised university with at least 55% aggregate marks (50% marks for aspirants who belong to SC/ST category).Ph.D. (Applied Mathematics)

For International Aspirants:
International aspirants required to take a printout of the application form from the official website and send it to the university in the prescribed pattern.
For admission to M.Phil. in Buddhist Studies and Civilization, the University organizes an interview and gives weightage to the academic performance of the aspirant.
For M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology, the University organizes a written test which is followed by individual interview. The format for GPTR is given below: The entrance test will have three sections - Subject Awareness, English proficiency, and General Knowledge.

GBU organizes GPTR or General Proficiency Test for Research Programs for admission to Doctoral programs. The exam will be of 2 hours period and carry 100 marks. Subject Awareness will have maximum weightage that of 70%.
