The university has been given the 'A'grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It has a non-hierarchical, collegial, liberal university atmosphere. There is also a number of fee-waivers, fellowships and bursaries available to students to ensure that financial difficulties never become an impediment for meritorious students enrolling at AUD.
AUD invites Applications for admission to the Research Programmes which comprise Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Programme and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programme for the academic year 2016-17. The M.Phil. Programmes will be for a period of 2 years and the Ph.D. Programme for a period of 3 years. The admission procedure for each programme begins on a separate date and the Application Forms can be filled either online via the University website, or offline from the AUD campus. All M.Phil. And Ph.D. students will be entitled to a stipend.

The University provides the following specializations under the Ph.D. Programme:-
Eligibility Criteria:
For all Programmes: Aspirants should have secured an at least of 55% marks for general category and 50% marks in case of SC / ST / PWD category, in a professional or a Master’s degree in the respective or concerned subject from a recognized University.
For Development Studies: Aspirants must fulfil any of the following conditions:
For Ph.D. Human Ecology: Aspirants must either have an M.Phil. Degree or those holding M.Sc./M.A must have displayed special aptitudes such as completion of a research thesis (or project of comparable scope) or scholarly publication(s) from a recognized University.
For M.Phil. to Ph.D.: Students completing the prescribed 18 credits of M. Phil. coursework may apply for admission to Ph.D. If they have finished the prescribed coursework securing an overall grade average of A Minus.
There is only one Application Form common to both the programmes. There will be three pages in your application:

Step 4: Fill in the need person and educational details, and upload your photograph. The system will then send a password.
Step 3: You should then log in with that password and start filling up the Application Form. You can either fill the form online on the University website or offline (on-campus) at the AUD Campus at Kashmere Gate.
Step 1: You must click on “Admissions 2016” and choose the Research programme you are applying for in the drop-down menu on the page.
Step 2: You should then select the programme of your choice and enter your email address and captcha image. You can then enter the cash receipt details in the Application Form.

You must then click on the “submit” button, and make the final submission of your Application Form.Step 7: Take a print out of the filled in Application Form. You must enter the DD details in the Application Form.
Step 6: Review the filled in Application Form and make the necessary changes, if any. It can be done either in cash, through Demand Draft or online payment.
Step 5: At the last step, you will need to make the payment for an Application fee of Rs.600 in case of general category and Rs. 300 in case of SC/ST/PWD category, for every M.Phil. / Ph.D. Programme you apply for.
For all Programmes: The selection of all programmes will be based on the following distribution:-

For M.Phil. Development Exercise:-
Aspirants will be selected on the basis of an Entrance Test followed by a Group Discussion and Interview.
The Entrance Exam will be for a total of 50 marks. It will be checked for plagiarism in which case it may get rejected. This has to be attempted on the response sheet offered.
For Women and Gender Studies, Hindi and History:
Aspirants will be selected on the basis of Research Proposal, Entrance Exam and Interview.
The written exam will carry 50 marks and shall have 3 questions of 15, 15, and 20 marks each. The test will be for a period of 1 hours and 45 minutes. The paper will have 3 sections:
The interview will also carry 25 marks.
For Ph.D. Human Ecology:-
It will have essay questions addressing contemporary issues at the interface of environment and human society. It will be held for a period of two hours.
The Research Proposal will carry 25 marks. There shall be no negative marking for this.
You must be able to score an at least of 55% marks to have a Satisfactory Performance, in proposal assessment, entrance test and interview combined for General Category with a suitable relaxation for SC/ST/PWD Categories.
Reservation of seats will be as per the rules of Government of NCT.
