Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) – Deemed to be University is the premier Technological University of Dept. of India. The uniqueness of DIAT is that fresh students have an opportunity to interact with service officers who are doing their M. The students have an opportunity to visit DRDO laboratories & get the opportunity to listen and interact with scientists engaged in different branches carrying out state of art, Research & Development. and share their field experience with them. Tech.

The University invites Applications for admission to the Ph.D. Programme in both Full Time and Part Time courses, in the frontier areas of specialisation for the academic year 2018-19. The Application procedure is partly online and begins from March 30, 2018 (tentative) and partly offline with the submission of the hard copy of the Application Acknowledgment by April 29, 2018 (tentative). The admission is based on the performance in the entrance exam (written test) organizeed by the department related, followed by individual interview.

Eligibility Criteria for DIAT Pune Ph.D.  Admissions 2018

Ph.D. (Aerospace Engineering) , Ph.D. (Mechanical Engineering) & Ph.D. (Electronics Engineering)

The University provides Ph.D. Programme in the following specialisations:

  • Applied Mathematics
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Computer Science & Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Applied Physics
  • Materials engineering
  • Applied Chemistry

Eligibility Criteria

For Full-Time Ph.D. Programme:

You should have passed any of the below-mentioned qualifying examinations securing minimum 55% marks or equivalent CGPA/DGPA:

  • B.E. / B.Tech with 10 years of research/industrial experience for Ph.D.  In Engineering / Science (this category is only for sponsored aspirants)
  • Master of Engineering/Master of Technology (or equivalent) for Ph.D. in Engineering/Science.
  • Master of Science (M.Sc. or equivalent) for Ph.D. in Science

And you should have qualified in a national level test such as CSIR/UGC NET, Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (GATE), State Level Eligibility Test, accredited by UGC, Rajiv Gandhi National fellowship, NBHM etc. 

Age: You should be minimum 28 years as on July 1st, 2017.

For Part-time Ph.D. Programme (without scholarship):

You should fulfil either of the following criteria:

  • If you are sponsored as a part-time aspirant by a government department/public sector undertaking/ R & D organization/ private industry and institutions, with minimum five years of relevant experience, and if you shall work for your Ph.D. in your parent organization fulfilling the residency duration requirement.
  • You should be a JRF/SRF registered in DRDO Laboratories, and sponsored by the respective Laboratories. If the R&D project funding is over then, the institute funding of stipend will be given subject to qualifying GATE/NET/SLET (scholarship) examination.
  • You should be selected under Quality Improvement Program (QIP) of AICTE, Faculty Development Program of a State Government, and so on.
  • You should be a non-teaching permanent employee of the Institute with five years of experience at DIAT, and also otherwise applicable.
  • You should be a permanent teacher of the Institute with minimum four years of service and also otherwise applicable.
A sponsorship letter is a need from the Director of your respective Laboratory.
  • You should be part of the Project staff (JRF/SRF/PA) working on sponsored projects subject to fulfilling the criteria.

  • How to apply to DIAT Pune Ph.D.  Admissions 2018?

    M.Phil/Ph.D in Engineering & M.Phil/Ph.D in Science

    You should apply online through the official website of the Institute. You should apply separately if you seek admission to more than one programme.

    Application fee:

    • Rs. 500 for general category
    • Rs. 250 for SC, ST, Women, PWD and OBC aspirants

    You should pay the fee either online or by Demand Draft drawn in favour of Vice Chancellor, DIAT, Pune, payable at Pune.

    The application has to be uploaded to the website after filling all the information.

    You should take a print out of the Application Acknowledgement generated by the system after uploading of application.

    You should then send the hard copy of the Application Acknowledgement along with the DD drawn/proof of online payment and with the self-certified copies of mark lists, certificates and other testimonials, in a sealed envelope super scribed with the name of Ph.D. Program to:

    These documents should access DIAT latest by April 29, 2018 (tentative). The application will be procedures only on receipt of the acknowledgement with DD.

    Selection Procedure for DIAT Pune Ph.D.  Admissions 2018

    Your selection will be based on the performance in the entrance exam (written test) organizeed by the department related followed by individual interview.

    Reservation Criteria for DIAT Pune Ph.D.  Admissions 2018

    The Institute shall implement the reservation policy in Ph.D. admission in accordance with the relevant act of Parliament being in-force at the time.
