Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission 2018

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) provides admission to the third semester of B.Tech. programmes via lateral entry scheme. Generally, for all courses, the application starts from January month of every year. This year, the application for admission to B.Tech(Lateral Entry) programme has been started from January 22, 2018 (tentative) and it will be closed on February 15, 2018 (tentative).

Participants for B.Tech Lateral Entry programmes will need to appear for the Lateral Entry Test (LET) organized by the university and LET exam will be held on May 01, 2018 (tentative).

In CUSAT, all programmes of CUSAT except the 3 years evening LLB programme are approved for fee exemptions for SC/ST aspirants and other Applicable Communities. You can download the application form for admission to university hostels from university websites. Hostel accommodation for around 700 female and 600 male students is available for all UG, Post Graduate and Research students. 50% tuition fee exemption will be granted for PWD aspirants.

CUSAT Admission 2018 Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech (Lateral Entry) Programmes


You must have any three-year Diploma in Engineering / Technology honored by the Board of Technical Education recognized by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks, will be considered for admission to the B.Tech. programme via Lateral Entry Scheme.

The maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July of the year of admission.

The Aspirants belonging to Kerala Scheduled Cast (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are applicable for applying, if they have at least pass marks in the qualifying examination expect marine engineering.

CUSAT Admission 2018 How to apply for B.Tech (Lateral Entry)


You can apply for B.Tech lateral entry programme only online mode. Visit CUSAT website for online application. The registration window has been opened from January 20, 2018 (tentative). You should check your application status after two working days from the date of payment of a fee. Last date for application form submission is February 15, 2018 (tentative).

CUSAT B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission 2018 Application Fee:

  • INR 6000/- For NRI Aspirants
  • INR 500/- For SC/ST Aspirants
  • INR 1000/- For General & OBC Aspirants

Note: An additional fee of Rs. 10,000/- is payable by aspirants opting Dubai as Test Centre.

How to apply?

You can submit online application form after January 20, 2018 (tentative). You can not change any detail after submission of application form. After submitting details, user Id and password will be sent by mail and SMS.

Submit Application Form: The online application submission is a two-stage procedure.

  • Stage 2: In this stage, you should login with the help of user id and password. The last date for fee submission is February 22, 2018 (tentative).

    Note: You can not change any detail after submission of application form.

    Visit the official website of CUSAT. Now fill all other details need in the online registration form and upload your recent passport size color photograph and signature.
  • Stage 1: In this stage, you should fill basic individual details such as Name, DOB, email id, mobile number etc. Last date for application to B.Tech(Lateral Entry) programme is February 15, 2018 (tentative). Admissions to all programs except Marine Engineering are based on the CUSAT CAT Rank.
  • Need dimensions and size of photo & signature

    For Photo: 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm with the file size between 4 KB and 100 KB

    For Signature: 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm with file size between 1 KB and 30 KB

    Make Payment: You can make payment via SBI/SBT Internet Banking or via Challan.

    Admissions to B.Tech Lateral Entry will be based on the rank in the CUSAT CAT admission test.

    CUSAT B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission 2018 Special Reservation:

    Physically Challenged: 3% seats are reserved for physically challenged aspirants with minimum 40% disability for all B.Tech courses, except B.Tech Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture & Ship Building, Instrumentation, Polymer Science & Engineering and Safety & Fire Engineering. One seat each for all other academic programmes except M.Sc. (Industrial Fisheries) is reserved for physically challenged aspirants.

    Blind: Reservation for Blind aspirants is eligible only for MA (Hindi) and LLM programmes.

    Note: Aspirants belonging to states other than Kerala are not applicable for communal reservation.
