Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) Admissions 2018

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) provides one UG, four Integrated, and five Post Graduate programme. This year, the Online application for admission to Under Graduate and Post Graduate programmes has been started from January 22, 2018 (tentative) and it will be closed on February 15, 2018 (tentative). Generally, for all Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses, the application starts from January month of every year. CUSAT CAT exam is organized by University and it will be held on April 30 and May 01, 2018 (tentative).

In CUSAT, all programmes of CUSAT expect the 3-year evening LLB programme is approved for fee exemptions for SC/ST aspirants and other Applicable Communities. 50% tuition fee exemption will be granted for PWD aspirants. Hostel accommodation for around 700 female and 600 male students is available for all UG, Post Graduate and Research students. Eligibility Criteria for CUSAT Under Graduate and Post Graduate Programme

BE/B.Tech

CUSAT provides following 4 years B.Tech programmes:

  • B.Tech. programme via Lateral Entry Scheme.

    The maximum age prescribed is 25 years as on 1st July of the year of admission.

    The Aspirants belonging to Kerala Scheduled Cast (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are applicable for applying, if they have at least pass marks in the qualifying examination expect marine engineering.

  • B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering
  • B.Tech. Safety and Fire Engineering
  • B.Tech. Ship Technology
  • B.Tech. Polymer Science & Engineering

Eligibility Criteria For all branches except Marine Engineering

You must have passed 10+2 in PCM with 50% marks in aggregate and at least 50% marks in Mathematics separately to apply for B.Tech programme provided by CUSAT.

B. Tech Instrumentation Technology: You must have passed 10+2 in PCM with 60% marks in aggregate and at least 55% marks in Mathematics separately to apply for B.Tech programme provided by CUSAT.

B. Tech Naval Architecture & Ship Building: You must have passed 10+2 in PCM with 60% marks in aggregate and at least 50% marks in Mathematics separately to apply for B.Tech programme provided by CUSAT.

Note: For all UG Programmes (except Marine Engineering) the at least eligibility for SEBC aspirants of Kerala State with Non-Creamy Layer Status to be considered under reservation quota for admission to B. Tech is at least 45% marks for Mathematics and 45% marks for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together in the qualifying examination.

The Aspirants belonging to Kerala Scheduled Cast (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are applicable for applying, if they have at least pass marks in the qualifying examination except for Marine Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech(Lateral Entry) Programme:

You must have any three-year Diploma in Engineering / Technology honored by the Board of Technical Education recognized by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks, will be considered for admission to the B.Tech. Computer Science Engineering

    You must have passed 10+2 in PCM with 60% marks in aggregate and at least 50% marks in Mathematics separately to apply for B.Tech programme provided by CUSAT. It is also eligible for SC/ST aspirants. Vocational/Diploma students are not applicable to apply. The Maximum age limit to apply for Marine engineering is 25 Years as on 1st September of the year of admission. You should have passed English at 10th and 12th with 50% marks.

    Bachelor of Science [B.Sc.] + Master of Science [M.Sc.] (Photonics)

    You must have passed 10+2 in PCM with 50% marks in aggregate and at least 50% marks in Mathematics separately to apply for Integrated M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    LLB

    You must have Bachelor’s Degree with 40% (35 % for SC/ST aspirants)aggregate marks in any branch of a University recognised by CUSAT. Aspirants who have appeared for the qualifying examination may also apply in anticipation of the result.

    M.Sc. Chemistry: You must have B.Sc. Degree in Chemistry /Polymer Chemistry / Environmental Chemistry /Industrial Chemistry / Petrochemicals (main) with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary subject with 55% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Computer Science: You must have Bachelor degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology /Computer Applications/Computer Science & Engineering with 60% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Biopolymer Science: You must have B.Sc. Degree with Chemistry as one of the Subject with 50% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Electronics Science: You must have B.Sc. Degree in Electronics with 60% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Instrumentation: You must have B.Sc. Degree in Instrumentation/Electronics/Physics with 60% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Hydrochemistry: You must have B.Sc. Degree in Chemistry or Mathematics with 55% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Oceanography: You must have B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics/Physics as the main Subject with 55% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Marine Geography: You must have B.Sc. degree in Geology/Physics with Mathematics as one of the subjects and minimum 60% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Environmental Engineering: You must have B.Sc. degree in Chemistry with Mathematics and Physics or B.E/B.Tech. with 55% (50% for SC/ST aspirants) aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Environmental Biotechnology: You must have a bachelor degree in Life Sciences/ Environmental Science/Zoology/Botany/Microbiology with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST aspirants) to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Meteorology: You must have B.Sc. degree in Physics with Mathematics or Mathematics with Physics/Computer Science with Mathematics and Physics/Chemistry with Physics and Mathematics with 55% aggregate marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Biotechnology: You must have a bachelor degree in any subject of Life Sciences Science including Agricultural and Medical Science/Chemical Science/Chemical Engineering with 55% marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Marine Biology: You must have a bachelor degree in any subject of Life Sciences or B.Sc. Degree in Fishery Science with 55% marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.Sc. Industrial Fisheries: You must have a bachelor degree in any subject of Life Sciences or B.Sc. Degree in Fisheries/B.F.Sc. degree in Nautical Science with 55% marks to apply for M.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.F.Sc. (Seafood Safety and Trade)

    You must have a bachelor degree in Fisheries/Food Technology/Food Science/Microbiology/Biochemistry /Zoology with 55% marks or B.Sc. Degree in Fisheries in relevant fields /B.F.Sc. programme provided by CUSAT.

    degree in Nautical Science/ Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology or Food Science to apply for M.F.Sc.

    MA

    CUSAT provides following 2 year MA programmes:

    • M.A. Applied Economics
    • M.A. Hindi Language and Literature

    Eligibility Criteria for MA programme

    M.A. Hindi Language and Literature: You must have BA/B.Sc. Degree with Hindi as a Subject of study with 45% aggregate marks in Hindi to apply for MA programme provided by CUSAT.

    M.A. Applied Economics: You must have Bachelor Degree in Economics with 55% in Part III (Economics and Subsidiaries) or B.Com./BBA/BB with Economics as one of the subjects with 60% marks or B.Sc. Mathematics/Statistics with 65% marks to apply for MA programme provided by CUSAT. No, at least percentage marks need in the qualifying examination for SC/ST aspirants.

    LLM

    CUSAT provides following LLM programmes

    • LLM (1 year) (with Intellectual Property Rights specialization)
    • LLM (2 Years)

    Eligibility Criteria

    LLM: You must have Bachelor of Law Degree 45% aggregate marks to apply for LLM programme provided by CUSAT.

    LLM (with Intellectual Property Rights specialization): You must have Bachelor’s Degree in law (law degree not compulsory for foreign students) with 55% marks to apply for LLM programme provided by CUSAT.

    MCA

    CUSAT provides following MCA programmes

    • 3 Year Master of Computer Application(Cost Sharing)
    • 3 Year Master of Computer Application(Regular)
    • 2 Year Master of Computer Application(Lateral Entry)

    Eligibility Criteria

    MCA (Regular & Cost Sharing): You must have Bachelor’s Degree with Mathematics as a Subject of study or Bachelor Degree in Electronics/Information Technology/Computer Science/Computer Applications/Engineering/ Technology with 45% aggregate marks in all subjects other than language and humanities to apply for MA programme provided by CUSAT.

    MCA (Lateral Entry): You must have Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/Computer Applications /Computer Science and Engineering with 55% aggregate mark to apply for MA programme provided by CUSAT.

    Bachelor of Business Administration [BBA] + Bachelor of Laws [L.L.B.] {Hons.} & Bachelor of Commerce + Bachelor of Laws [BCom L.L.B.] {Hons.}

    You should have Pass in 10+2 examinations with 60% marks in Science group or 55% marks in Commerce/Arts / Humanities. You should not have finished 20 years (22 years SC/ST and OBC aspirants) of age as on 1st July of the year of admission.

    How to apply for CUSAT Under Graduate and Post Graduate programmes?

    BE/B.Tech, MCA & M.Sc

    You can submit the application form for Under Graduate and Post Graduate programmes expect MA Translation in German/Russian only online mode. You can not change any detail after submission of application form. Visit the official website of CUSAT.

    Application Fee:

    • INR 500/- For SC/ST Aspirants
    • INR 1000/- For General & OBC Aspirants
    • INR 6000/- For NRI Aspirants

    Note: An additional fee of Rs. 10,000/- is payable by aspirants opting Dubai as Test Centre.

    How to apply?

    You can apply online for Under Graduate and Post Graduate programme expect M.A. Translation in German/Russian and after January 20, 2018 (tentative). The last date for fee submission is February 22, 2018 (tentative).

    You can not change any detail after submission of application form.

    Submit Application Form: The online application submission is a two-stage procedure.

    • Stage 2: In this stage, you should log in with the help of user id and password. You can not apply for Under Graduate and Post Graduate programme after February 15, 2018 (tentative). The registration window has been opened from January 20, 2018 (tentative).
    • Stage 1: In this stage, you should fill basic individual details such as Name, DOB, email id, mobile number etc. Visit CUSAT website for online application. Visit the official website of CUSAT. After submitting details, user Id and password will be sent by mail and SMS.

    Need dimensions and size of photo & signature

    For Photo: 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm with the file size between 4 KB and 100 KB

    For Signature: 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm with file size between 1 KB and 30 KB

    Make Payment: You can make payment via SBI/SBT Internet Banking or via Challan. You should check your application status after two working days from the date of payment of a fee. and M.Voc programme

    Selection Process

    BE/B.Tech, MCA & M.Sc

    For the Programmes, B.Tech (regular and lateral entry), 5-year Integrated M.Sc. Photonics, BCom-LLB, BBA-LLB, LLB, LLM, M IP-PhD, LLM -PHD, M.FSc and all MA, M.Sc. & MCA (regular & lateral entry ) Programmes the rank list will be prepared on the basis of the CAT Scores obtained in the CAT Test prescribed for each Programme with the exception in the case of M.Sc. (Industrial Fisheries).

    Note: Admission to B.Tech Lateral Entry Programme will be performed via CUSAT LET 2018 while the application procedure is same as that for CUSAT CAT 2018.

    Master of Science [M.Sc] (Industrial Fisheries)

    Admission to M.Sc. (Industrial Fisheries) will be based on the rank list prepared on the basis of CAT Score in the specified Test and Score obtained in the Interview organized by School of Industrial Fisheries.

    Special Reservation:

    Physically Challenged: 3% seats are reserved for physically challenged aspirants with minimum 40% disability for all B.Tech courses, except B.Tech Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture & Ship Building, Instrumentation, Polymer Science & Engineering and Safety & Fire Engineering. One seat each for all other academic programmes except M.Sc. (Industrial Fisheries) is reserved for physically challenged aspirants.

    Blind: Reservation for Blind aspirants is eligible only for MA (Hindi) and LLM programmes.

    Note: Aspirants belonging to states other than Kerala are not applicable for communal reservation.
