Calicut University, Calicut is the largest university in Kerala, it is also the second university to be set up in Kerala. As per the plan, the four post-graduate departments of the University of Kerala operating in Calicut were adjoined to the new University along with fifty-four constituent colleges spread across seven northern districts. The University was created via a Government plan bifurcating Kerala University. The University has emerged as the largest residential cum affiliating University in Kerala, with 30 postgraduate departments and 373 affiliated colleges.

The School of Distance Education at Calicut University is one of the major departments of the University and was founded in 1981. Now it is a major education offer in Kerala as well as in other parts of India and also in gulf countries with an annual enrollment of more than 60,000 students. Presently, the School provides 16 graduate courses, 13 postgraduate courses, and two diploma courses.

The School of Distance Education provides twelve bachelor’s degree programs in Arts, Five in Commerce, three in Business Administration. The application process for all the courses in same, majorly. Aspirants are admitted straight to the programs and may seek spot-admissions.

Calicut University UG Distance Admissions 2018 Application Procedure

BA , B.Sc & BMM

The application procedure for admission to any Post Graduate program at Calicut University is pretty simple, you can apply online. Here are the steps to apply online:

  1. Remit the need application fee/Admission fee/Course fees /Matriculation fee (if eligible)/ Recognition fee (if eligible) and Re-matriculation fee using (if eligible) one of the ways mentioned in ‘Method of Payment’.
  2. Log on to the official website of Calicut University with Challan receipt and a recent passport size photograph for uploading in JPEG pattern.
  3. Click the link “SDE-Regular Under Graduate Admission” to get the online application.
  4. Fill in all the columns cautiously and submit. Also, take the printout of the application.
  5. Attest the photo in the printout copy with a Gazetted Officer with necessary documents and forward to:

Method of Payment:

The fee should be remitted only via any one of the e-payment options:

  • Jana Sevana Kendrams/Akshayas
  • State Bank of Travancore (through e-Challan) and SBT Internet Banking.

Documents to be submitted:

  • Spot Admission fee (If taking admission via spot admission): Rs.50/- (Fee can be remitted along with the other fee/via the separate link offered for spot admission “SDE SPOT ADMISSION FEE (UG/PG) 2016”)
  • Original and self-attested copies of qualifying certificates and Mark lists.
  • Attested copy of the relevant page of SSLC or equivalent exam as proof of Date of Birth
  • Original Transfer Certificate.
  • BPL aspirants to produce the necessary certificate from the related authority.
  • Self-addressed stamped envelope ( 32/-) of size (30x25 cms.) to return the original certificates if not availing the facility of spot admission
  • 3 self-addressed stamped ( 5/-) envelops (12 x 5 inches)
  • Community/Income/Nativity Certificate (whichever is eligible) in the case of SC/ST/OBC/OEC aspirants.
  • Certificate from the authority for relaxation in at least marks in case of teachers, Govt. employees, University employees etc.
  • Original Challan receipt for the need fee.

Admission to the distance education Under Graduate programs at Calicut University are made straight via spot-admissions on all working days.

Reservation Criteria

  • No fee exemption for OBC students. Blind aspirants are also applicable for fee exemption on the production of Medical Certificate
  • SC/ST aspirants required getting only pass for admission
  • Aspirants belonging to SC/ST/OEC are applicable for exemption from payment of tuition fees, only if they are not employed in Govt. //Quasi Govt. /Public Sector services
  • They should apply for fee exemption with the relevant document in the prescribed application which will be supplied to them later
  • On production of caste certificate, OBC/OEC students will be given 5% or 3GPV relaxation to the mark need for admission
