Calicut University offers admission to deserving students via Centralized Admission Procedure (CAP) for the academic session 2018-19. This procedure has been earned by university to grant admissions in Under Graduate programmes concerned to Arts, Science & Technology courses. Under university scheme separate seat allotment has been performed for students belong to Kashmir, Lakshadweep. Students can apply online for different colleges & courses under CAP.  50% seats via CAP merit have been reserved to grant admission in Self Financing Colleges only.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech/B.Sc/BCA and Other Under Graduate Courses

Various courses provided by Calicut University have various eligibility norms as mentioned below.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Microbiology), Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Biotechnology) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Aquaculture & Fishery Microbiology)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent with an at least 45% of the total for the subjects – Biology, Physics & Chemistry are applicable for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Applied Statistics)

Students who have passed 10+2 from Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination with Mathematics or Statistics.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Biochemistry)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent and have studied Chemistry& Biology at HSE level are applicable for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Chemistry), Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Physics) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Polymer Chemistry)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent with Science subjects.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Computer Science) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Mathematics)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent and have studied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or Computer Application at HSE level are applicable for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Electronics)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent and have studied Electronics, Physics, Mathematics at HSE level are applicable for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Environmental Science & Water Management)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto and have studied two science subjects at HSE level are applicable for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Family and Community Science) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Psychology)

Students who have passed the HSE from Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other equivalent examination are applicable.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Food Technology)

Students who have passed the HSE from Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination with Mathematics are applicable to apply.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Genetics)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent and have studied Physics, Chemistry & any discipline of Life Science at HSE level are applicable for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Geology)

Students who have studied Science subjects at plus two level are applicable for admissions to B. Sc programme in Geology since Geology is taught as a subject at plus two level in both Science and Humanities stream, those students who have studied Geology at Plus two level are also applicable for admission.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Information Technology)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent with at least of 50 % marks with Mathematics. Exemption of 5% marks will be given to OBC/OEC aspirants.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Botany), Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Plant Science) & Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Zoology)

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination with Biology as a mandatory paper or PDC with the Second group are applicable for admission. 

B.Com

1.  Aspirants, who have not taken minimum one commerce subject for Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination, should score minimum 45% (in 6 subjects) in that examination to become applicable. Students who have passed the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent examination with minimum one commerce subject.

2. Exemption of 3 GPV will be given to OBC/OEC aspirants. The SC/ST aspirants required to pass only.

BCA

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent and have studied Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Application or Information Exercises at HSE level are applicable for admission.

BMM

Students who have passed HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with not less than 45% marks in aggregate shall be applicable for admission.

BE/B.Tech

Age Limit: 17 years as on December 31, 2018 (tentative) for B. Tech & 25 years for Lateral Entry

Educational Qualification:

  • Those who pass the qualifying examination in the compartmental/supplementary examination are not applicable for admission in the same year.
  • For all streams, students belonging to SEBC with a total annual family income up to Rs.4.5 lakhs will be offered with the relaxation of 5% marks i.e. 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.
  • Pass in Pre-Degree Examination from any of the Universities of Kerala State, or examinations recognized equivalent with 50% marks in Mathematics/Biology and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics put together. Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary Examinations of Kerala have been recognized as equivalent to the Pre-Degree Examination.
  • For Lateral Entry, students shall have passed Diploma in Engineering honored by the State Board of Technical Education or equivalent after undergoing an institutional course of minimum 3 years and must have at least of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST) in Diploma.
  • SC/ST students require only a pass in qualifying examination.
  • Students, who have passed their qualifying examination from outside the State of Kerala, shall produce a certificate of recognition and equivalency of qualification at the time of the time of admission.
  • Lateral Entry will be permitted only to the discipline of Engineering in which they have obtained the Diploma or corresponding disciplines.
  • In case of NRI students who are selected on the basis of marks in the qualifying examination, 50% marks in mathematics alone and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry put together are the need. For Diploma holders 60% marks in the final diploma Examination is needed.

Note: All judgments regarding admission will be governed by the Commissioner for Entrance examinations, Govt. of Kerala.

BBA/BBM

Aspirants who have passed the HSE of the Kerala State Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent examination with not less than 50% are applicable for admission. The SC/ST aspirants required to pass only. Exemption of 3 GPV will be given to OBC/OEC aspirants.

B.Ed

Students can check the relevant criteria for above-mentioned branches with respect to Computer Science & Commerce group.

  • Relaxation of 5% marks for OEC and 3% for OBC aspirants will be allowed from the at least need marks i.e, OEC aspirants required only 45% 
    and OBC aspirants 47% of marks.
  • BA/B. Sc. Degree of the University of Calicut or a degree recognized as equivalent to 10+2+3 format with at least of 50% marks.
  • SC/ST aspirants, natives of Lakshadweep and participants under Teacher Quota required passing in the Degree examination.
  • Aspirants not having 50% marks in Part III of the degree course can also apply offered they possess 50% marks in the PG Degree.

Computer Science:

  • SC/ST aspirants, natives of Lakshadweep and participants under teacher quota required a mere pass in the qualifying examination.
  • Aspirants should have passed MCA/MSc. Computer Science/MSc Electronics of the University of Calicut or a Degree recognized as equivalent thereto with an at least of 50% marks.
  • Relaxation of 5% marks for OEC and 3% for OBC aspirants will be allowed from the at least need marks i.e. OEC aspirant’s required 45% and OBC aspirants 47% of marks.
  • Aspirants shall opt as optional subject for the B. Ed course only that main subject in which they have passed the B.A/ B. Sc. degree with the following concessions.

a. Graduates in History/Geography/Economics/Political Science/Islamic History/Sociology/Philosophy/Psychology will be applicable for admission to B.Ed. Course with Social Science as optional subject. Course with Mathematics as optional subject.

b. Graduates in Home Science/Geology with Physics/Chemistry as subsidiary subjects will be applicable for admission to Physical Science and those with Botany/Zoology/Life Science as subsidiary subjects will be applicable for admission with Natural Science as optional Subject for the B.Ed. Course.

c. Aspirants possessing B. Sc. Bio-Chemistry and B. Sc. Plant Science will be applicable for admission to Natural Science optional.

d. Aspirants possessing B. Sc. Polymer Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry Degree will be considered for admission to Physical Science optional.

e. Aspirants possessing B. Sc. Agricultural Degree with Bio-Chemistry and Zoology as subsidiaries will be applicable for admission to Natural Science optional.

f. Aspirants possessing B. Functional English Degree will be applicable for B. Ed.

g. Graduates in Statistics with Mathematics as one of the subsidiary subjects and aspirants possessing B. Sc. applied statistics Degree will be applicable for admission to B. Ed. admission in English optional.

  • SC/ST aspirants, natives of Lakshadweep and participants under Teacher Quota required only a pass in the degree examination.
  • Categories under IV should secure 50% marks in Part –III of their course.

Commerce:

  • Relaxation of 5% marks for OEC and 3% for OBC aspirants will be allowed from the at least need marks i.e. OEC aspirant’s required 45% and OBC aspirants 47% of marks.
  • Aspirants should have passed M.Com Degree of the University of Calicut or a degree recognized as equivalent thereto with an at least of 50% marks.
  • SC/ST aspirants, natives of Lakshadweep and participants under Teacher Quota required a mere pass in the qualifying examination.

How to Apply for B.Tech/B.Sc/BCA and Other Under Graduate Courses

BA , B.Sc & BHM

Students can choose up to 20 courses according to their interest & priority in from affiliated colleges of University of Calicut by following these simple steps for online application:

  • STAGE 1

Step1: Fee payment via Payment Gateway:

Before fee payment, you must have Date of Birth, a valid e=mail ID & mobile number. You have to navigate to the home page of the Calicut University; www.universityofcalicut.info. & click on Instant Web Payment System.  Now click on Fee-remittance link on www.cuonline.ac.inNow pay the fee INR 250 for General (INR 100 for SC/ST).

The way of fee payment for students belongs to Kerala:

Those students, who have State Bank of Travancore (SBT) online facility, can pay via this mode. They can also pay via SBT E-Challan.

Process:

  1. Select UGSW18 which is Centralized Admission Procedure Degree- 2018 Application Fee.
  2. Fill all details & select the method of fee payment which is SBT online.
  3. Enter the fee amount & click on proceed. Now click on Fee-remittance link on www.cuonline.ac.in. Now check all details & click on ‘Pay Now’.
  4. Click on redirect option to go to Calicut University Instant Web Payment System (CUIWPS) or wait for 60 seconds. 
  5. Take the print out of fee receipt. CAP ID & password will be sent to you via SMS so that you will be able to complete the application procedure.

They can also pay via SBT E-Challan. Friends Janasevana Kendrum or Akshaya Centres.

Process:

  1. Select UGSW15 which is Centralized Admission Procedure Degree- 2018 Application Fee.
  2. Fill all details & select the method of fee payment which is SBT E- Challan.
  3. Enter the fee amount & click on proceed.
  4. Take the print out of challan & you can pay the fee in any nearest SBT discipline after 3 hours of generation of challan.
  5. After payment, you will receive the CAP ID & password within 24 hours.

Step 2: Photo upload requires these things; CAP ID, password, scan passport size photo in jpg. Pattern (30 to 40KB) & copy of SSC & BPL certificate if eligible. You have to login to www.cuonline.ac.in

Step 3: Register yourself by filling all individual details.

  • STAGE 2:

Stage 2 will be finished by the students only after the declaration of result.

Step 1: Submission of marks obtained by you in the entrance test.

Step 2: After that students have to fill their choices concerned to courses & colleges.

Admission Procedure for B.Tech/B.Sc/BCA and Other Under Graduate Courses

BA , BMM & B.Sc

Admission to all courses will be via Common Entrance Test following by merit list. All seats available in the University of Calicut have been filled strictly on merit basis whether it is for Government, Aided, Un-Aided (Self – Financing) colleges.

The process of indexing of Merit list:

Marks obtained in 10+2 will be considered for merit list preparation. Deciding factors of merit list:

    1. If a student has scored more marks in 10+2 then he/she can easily be satisfied the criteria of at least marks need. Extra marks scored by him will work as bonus points for him/her.
    2. 15 marks will have been added to the total marks in case of children & widows of Ex-serviceman & Jawans.
      1. 15 marks will be honored to those students who have been working in Illiteracy Education Programmes on a volunteer basis from minimum one year.
      2. 15 marks will be honored to NCC & NSS cadets on the priority basis, for e.g. priority will be given to A, B, C certificate holders.
      3. 10 point bonus will be given to first rank holder in Kerala state Higher secondary or Vocational Higher Secondary Art Festivals.

        Note: 10 points will be deducted for every successive attempt to complete the qualifying exam up to the maximum of 25 marks ( for those students who would not be able to pass 10+2 exam in the first attempt).

        Seat Allocation:

        Seats will be allotted by following three allocation procedures for Government & Aided colleges & two procedures for Un-aided colleges with respect to the availability of vacancies.

        First Allocation:

        1. After trial allocation, seat matrix on the basis of rank & priority order will be published, & all options below the published ranks will be automatically get canceled. Students whose seat will be confirmed after the first allocation have to pay the fee of INR 425 for General (100 for SC/ST).
        2. If a student is satisfied with the allotted seat then he/she can be canceled the remaining options.
        3. Students whose seat has been confirmed has to report to the respective college along with original & photocopies of the documents.
          • Print out of the application (Taken at the time of form filling)
          • Income/nativity/community certificate, if eligible
          • E-Challan or online payment slip
          • Age certificate
          • Transfer & code of organizing certificate
          • Marks sheet of the qualifying exam
        4. Confirmation of admission will be performed by the respective college after cross-checking of documents & information offered at the time form filling by the student. Information regarding admission should be conveyed to the University of Calicut by the college.

        Bifurcation of seats which have not been considered under CAP:

        1. Seats under Community quota (For Aided colleges only)
        2. Seats under Management quota (Eligible for Aided/Unaided & unaided courses)
        3. Sports Quota
        4. Lakshadweep quota/ students of Kashmir (for affiliated colleges)
        5. PWD & mentally retarded students

        Note: Admission to the new colleges & new courses will be made via traditional attitude for those students only who have registered themselves for CAP. Trial allocations will be organized to offer the complete picture regarding the exact allocation procedure.

        Seats available under CAP:

        1. Seats available in Government colleges excluding the seats reserved for students belonging to Union Territory of Lakshadweep, Tamil Linguistic Minority, Sports quota, Person with Disability & Mentally retarded students from Kashmir.
        2. Seats available in Aided colleges for students belong to open quota, SC & ST.
        3. Total 59% Seats are available in Un-Aided & for aided courses in Self- Financing colleges including the seats reserved for SC/ST/SEBC.
        4. Total 59% Seats are available in IHRD self-financing colleges subject to reservation as per Government rules.

        Note: To claim reservation under any category students must register for CAP via Calicut University.
