Bangalore University was founded in July 1964 which is situated in the garden city of Bangalore. The university was first certified in 2002 by NAAC with five-star status and was re-accredited in the year 2008 with ‘A’ Grade.                                    The university moved into new campus named “Jnana Bharathi” which comprises a large number of postgraduate departments, Directorates, Centres of higher learning, NSS Bhavan, Outdoor Stadium and other support services.

University has 43 PG Departments, One postgraduate Centre at Kolar, three constituent colleges, 665 affiliated colleges (of which 115 have Post Graduate Courses) and several other Centres.

University provides different courses having course level undergraduate (UG); programmes in these course levels are discussed as following in different branches:

Aspirants can get direct admission to the above-mentioned courses but in B.P.Ed course is done on the basis of (entrance test, QE) and in B.E course is done via KCET entrance examination.

Eligibility Criteria

BA

Eligibility 

  • Aspirants must pass two years pre-university examination of Karnataka state with any combination of optional subjects or other recognized examination.

B.Sc

Eligibility 

  • Aspirants must pass two years pre-university examination of Karnataka state with at least two optional science subjects or other recognized examination.
  • Aspirants must pass in 10+2 in PCM/PCB.

B.Com

Eligibility

  • Aspirants who have passed diploma in secretarial/ commercial exercise organized by the board of technical examination, Karnataka may also qualified for admission straight to the 2nd year of B.Com degree.
  • Aspirants must pass two years pre-university examination of Karnataka state or equivalent.
  • Aspirants who have passed diploma in business administration examination organized by Directorate of technical education, Karnataka may also qualified for admission straight to the 1st year of B.Com degree.

BBA/BBM

Eligibility

  • Aspirants must pass two years pre-university examination of Karnataka state or equivalent.

BHM

Eligibility

  • The aspirant must have finished 2 years pre-university (10+2) course of Karnataka state or equivalent.

BCA

Eligibility

  • Aspirant who has passed JODC or diploma in engineering with minimum 35% of aggregate marks in all semesters.
  • Aspirant must pass two years PUC or equivalent examination in science, arts or commerce streams with minimum 35% of marks.

B.P.Ed

Eligibility

  • Aspirant must possess any bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% of marks from this university or any other recognized university

Bachelor of Visual Arts [BVA]

Eligibility

  • Aspirant must have passed SSLC examination organized by secondary school examination or any other state or recognized as equivalent to the secondary school leaving certificate.
  • Aspirant must pass an entrance aptitude test organized by college.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Fashion and Apparel Design)

Eligibility

  • Aspirant must pass the pre-university examination or pre-university board of Karnataka or any other examination with aggregate 35% of marks or above.
  • Aspirant having a diploma in textile technology and a diploma in costumes & fashion design organized by department of technical education are qualified for straight admission to the 3rd semester of the course.
  • Aspirant having the diploma in handloom technology and a diploma in handloom & textiles organized by the ministry of textiles are qualified for straight admission to the 3rd semester of the course.

Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology)

Eligibility

 

  • Aspirant must have finished 2 years pre-university (10+2) examination organized by Karnataka state or examination (10+2) considered by Bangalore University.
  • Aspirant must possess 50% or more marks in any one of the following combinations of subjects (45% marks belonging to SC/ST aspirants):

 

  1. Physics, chemistry, mathematics.
  2. Physics, chemistry, biology or physics, botany & zoology.
  3. Physics, mathematics, computer science.
  4. Physics, chemistry, mathematics & biology.

 

  • Aspirant must have complete 17 years of age on 1st July and should not attain the age of 22 years.


Application Procedure

Bangalore University offers Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), M Phil, Ph.D. and diploma programmes in multiple streams including engineering, science, law, commerce, teaching, and humanities & social sciences.

Bangalore University also offers various specializations/courses in Home Science, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Apparel Technology and Management and various foreign languages.
Integrated programmes that are offered at the university are Master of Management Studies (BMS-MMS) and Integrated B-Sc.-M.Sc in Biological Sciences.

Minimum Eligibility for UG and PG courses


The minimum eligibility to apply for any UG courses offered by colleges affiliated to Bangalore University is Class XII pass from being recognized board or university (as per UGC norms).

The minimum eligibility to apply for any PG course is at least 50% marks at Graduation level from a recognized University. The minimum cut-off for different courses may vary.

Admission Process

Admission to UG courses offered by colleges affiliated to Bangalore University is done on the basis of merit in the previous qualifying exam, except BCA for which counseling is conducted by the colleges individually.

For LLM and M P Ed entrance tests are conducted by the university, on the basis of which seats are offered. Admission to the rest of the PG courses is granted on the basis of merit in the previous qualifying score. However, the admission cycle may vary; hence the candidates are advised to get in touch with the university for course specific information.

Interested candidates can apply to the course of their choice by filling an online application form. The forms are available on the official website and can be accessed simply by clicking on the ‘Apply’ section.
The candidates will have to submit the separate application form for each course.
The duly filled form should be submitted in person or mailed to the concerned Chairperson of the Department on or before the last date of the registration process.

The application fee of Rs 300 (Application fees vary from course to course) must be paid at the time of submitting the application form online through credit card/debit card or internet banking.

For BCA, the candidate will have to pay Rs 3200 as registration fee and Rs 2200 as eligibility fee.

After the payment fee, the candidate will have to download the duly filled form and submit or post it along with relevant documents to the university.

Remittance of various fees can also be done through demand draft drawn in favor of Finance Officer, Bangalore University, payable at Bangalore.BA , B.P.Ed & BHM

  • After reading the instructions cautiously aspirants need to take out the printout of the sample application form and fill the same in the offline mode
  • After filling up all the fields in the page click on save button and submit declaration after selecting it.
  • Aspirant cannot make any modification once the declaration is complete.
  • Aspirant must have to log on to the website http://kea.kar.nic.in and select the link “CET-2016 Under Graduate Online Application” and read the instruction cautiously before filling up the online application form.

Selection Procedure

BA , B.Ed & B.P.Ed

Aspirants get straight selected for the above-mentioned programmes but selection for B.P.Ed course is done on the basis of (entrance test, QE) and in B.E course is done via KCET entrance examination.


Important Notes

Scholarship

The aspirant can avail only one scholarship at a time.

Hostel

Hostel facility offers to both boys and girls.

The aspirant has to submit the following certificate before taking admission to the hostel:

  • Three sets of photocopies of all the Original Certificates
  • Caste Certificate allowed by the Tahsildar, within the last five years.
  • Adhaar Card
  • SSLC Marks Card
  • Online (Post – Matric) scholarship Registration Number
  • Marks Cards of the earlier year.
  • Admission fee receipt
  • Distance Certificate as per the requirement of Social Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka.

  • Parent’s Income Certificate allowed by the Tahsildar, within the last five years.
