BU [Bangalore University] is a state university situated in Bangalore. It is accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade. The University has launched the Five years Integrated Courses in Biological Sciences, Social Sciences, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and Business Studies and the Four years B.S. It has 43 PG Departments, One post graduate Centre at Kolar, (Started during 1994-95), three constituent colleges, 665 affiliated colleges (of which 115 have Post Graduate Courses) and several other Centres and Directorates of higher learning and research programme. Following are the list of the constituent colleges of Bangalore University: The University has six faculties namely Arts, Science, Commerce & Management, Education, Law, and Engineering. At present, the University provides 50 PG Courses and Employment Oriented Diploma and Certificate Courses. Programme and will be starting a course in Criminology and Rehabilitation from this academic year.

  3. Department of Physical Education.

Two years postgraduate ME Programme is carried out in one of the constituent college of Bangalore University famously known as “University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering”. You have an option to choose one from the Twenty Two courses provideed in ME engineering programme. There are 320 AICTE sanctioned seats for the ME Programme.

History of the Department

The Department of Architecture was established in the year 1967. Bachelor Degree in Architecture was established in UVCE for the first time in Karnataka under the leadership of Prof S. G. Pardhy. The department has the well-equipped library which has been serving as a resource center to many other colleges also It has a consultancy wing by the name The Design Cell’ which takes up many consultancy projects for the university.

The students have been maintaining good academic records since the inception of the department. They have won many prizes at both State and national level competitions organized by the National Association of Architecture Students (NASA), Several alumni have distinguished themselves both in India and abroad.

Two-year postgraduate M.Arch. The programme is carried out in one of the constituent college of Bangalore University famously known as “University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering”. There are 36 AICTE sanctioned seats for the M.Arch. Programme.

You shall be selected on the basis of the rank allotted to you after appearing in the PG Common Entrance Test organizeed by Karnataka Examinations.

Eligibility Criteria

ME/M.Tech & M.Arch

Master of Engineering (ME): It is a two-year postgraduate programme provided by Bangalore University in twenty-two various streams of engineering. You shall be selected on the basis of the rank allotted to you after appearing in the PG Common Entrance Test organizeed by Karnataka Examinations.  To fill the PGCET form please visit the website http://kea.kar.nic.in. Master of Architecture in Construction and Project management and Master of Architecture in Landscape.

Bangalore University provides M.Arch programmes in following branchs:

  • M.Arch Construction and Project Management
  • M.Arch Landscape Architecture

Eligibility Criteria for M.E/M.Arch. Total number of AICTE approved seats are 320. If you have a valid GATE Score card you required not to appear in the “PGCET” exam. Programme: You required to have a B.Tech/B.E/B.Arch. degree with 50% aggregate marks from any University in India or abroad recognized by UGC/AIU. You shall be selected on the basis of the rank allotted to you after appearing in the PG Common Entrance Test organizeed by Karnataka Examinations.  To fill the PGCET form please visit the website http://kea.kar.nic.in.

Master of Architecture (M.Arch): Master of Architecture is a two-year postgraduate programme provided by Bangalore University in two various streams of architecture.

If you are in your final year of your B.Tech/B.E you are qualified to apply for M.E Course offerd that you have secured 50% or above aggregate in all the semesters/Years of Undergraduate Examination organizeed so far.

For SC/ST students you required to have 45%aggregate in all the semesters/Years of Undergraduate Examination organizeed by a UGC/AIU approved university.

Total number of AICTE approved seats are 36. You must have a valid GATE score.


Application Procedure

Application fees for B.Tech Programme: Rs.650/- for General Category and Rs.500/- for SC/ST/Category I aspirants.

Step 1: You required to enter all details ONLINE on http://ke.kar.nic.in.

Step 2: Please select “PGCET” and enter all the need information.

Step 3: You required to upload the scanned copy of recent passport size color photo and signature in JPGE pattern.

Step 4: Please download and print out the bank Challan form and fill the fees accordingly from any of the disciplinees of the specified banks.

Step 5: You required to download, print and attest the application form from the Principal of the college that you last attended. Do not forget to affix a recent size photograph, signature, and left thumb impression on the space offered.

Note: You required to produce this form at the time of verification along with the bank Challan form.

If you have a valid GATE Score card you required not to appear in the “PGCET” exam.


Selection Procedure

ME/M.Tech & M.Arch

If you have a valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test Exam) score you shall be given preference while admission. However, if you do not have a Valid GATE Scorecard, you required to appear in the “PGCET” and your admission will depend upon the rank that you get in “PGCET”.


Reservation Criteria 2018

­­Reservation Policy: There are two types of reservation policy under PGCET for admission to ME and M.Arch courses.

Reservation for Physically Disabled Special Category: Any aspirant who has 40% or more physical disability is qualified for the reservation under this category. All you required is to produce a medical certificate allowed by a government hospital of Karnataka. You also required to be current on the specific date allotted to you by the medical board for your verification of the medical certificate. According to the Government norm, 3% seats are reserved under Physically Disabled Special Category.

Reservation for Reserved category Students: This type of reservation is applicable only for Karnataka Aspirants. You required to produce a Caste Certificate as well as an Income Certificate allowed by related Jurisdictional Tahasildar. 70% seats are reserved for local Aspirants of Karnataka.

The annual income limit is Rs. 6 lakhs per annum for claiming reservation benefits.
