B S Abdur Rahman University (BSAU), Tamil Nadu is a private university, ranked among the top-50 engineering institutions of the country. The university organizes its own entrance examination for admission to the following bachelor’s courses:

  • Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.)
  • Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.)

Those who seek admission can apply via online registration procedure from the university website. Aspirant opting for online registration can submit the need application fee via the available online payment modes or send it via post in the form of DD.

Aspirants can also register via offline method by obtaining the prescribed application form in person or via post. Upon filling in all the relevant entries in the application, the aspirant should send it along with the need procedures fee in the form of Demand Draft, before April 15, 2018 (tentative).

Aspirants will be shortlisted for admission to B.Tech. / B.Arch. courses on the basis of their JEE Main / NATA scores or BSAU Engineering Entrance Examination (BSAUEEE-2018) which will be organizeed by the university on April 24, 2018 (tentative).

The following section contains information regarding eligibility criteria for various courses provideed by the BSAU.


Bachelor in Technology – 4 years

B.Tech is provideed in the following 13 branches:

  • Aeronautical Engineering – 30 seats
  • Computer Science & Engineering – 180 seats
  • Information Technology – 60 seats
  • Electronics & Communication Engineering – 120 seats
  • Polymer Engineering – 30 seats
  • Electrical & Electronics Engineering – 60 seats
  • Civil Engineering – 180 seats
  • Mechanical Engineering – 60 seats
  • Biotechnology – 60 seats
  • Mechanical Engineering – 60 seats
  • Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering – 30 seats
  • Cancer Biotechnology – 30 seats
  • Mechanical Engineering – 240 seats


  • Aspirants should have passed 10+2 examination organizeed by State Board/ CBSE/ ICSE or equivalent examination with an at least aggregate of 60% marks in PCM
  • Students appearing for 10+2 examination in the related year of admission are also applicable to apply
  • For admission to Biotechnology programme, aspirant should have scored minimum 60% aggregate in Mathematics/Biology, Physics and Chemistry
  • Aspirant should be born on or after July 1, 1994
  • Aspirants must have appeared for the University Engineering Entrance Examination (BSAUEEE 2018) or should possess a valid score in JEE Main


Bachelor in Architecture (B.Arch.) - 5 years


  • Aspirant should possess at least 40% aggregate in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA)
  • Aspirant must be born on or after July 1, 1994
  • Aspirants should have passed 10+2 examination (CBSE/ICSE/ etc.) or any other equivalent examination with minimum 50% aggregate and Mathematics as one of the subjects

How to Apply:

Aspirants can apply for admission via any of the following two methods:

Online Registration:

Aspirants can apply for admission via the online registration procedure available at the official university website.

After filling in all the entries in the application form, the aspirant should make payment of need procedures fee of Rs. 750/- via online payment modes such as Internet Banking/ Credit Card / Debit Card

The aspirant can also submit the application fee by sending a Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of ‘B.S.Abdur Rahman University’ and payable at Chennai. The back side of the DD should contain the name of the participant, programme name (B.Tech. DD should be drawn in favour of "B.S.Abdur Rahman University", payable at Chennai.

Application forms can be obtained through post by sending a request letter, along with a DD for INR 800, to the following address:

Offline Registration:

Aspirants can obtain the application form in person from the University Admission Office, on payment of INR 750 either by cash or via demand draft.

Admission Procedure of BSAU B.Tech. and  B.Arch. Admissions 2018

The following section contains information regarding selection procedure for various courses provideed by BSAU.


Admission to B.Tech programmes will be done via the following two methods:

  • Aspirant is selected on the basis of their score in BSAUEEE 2018 and their performance in the qualifying examination
  • Aspirant is selected on the basis of JEE Main 2018 score


Aspirants will be selected for admission to B.Arch. programme on the basis of marks scored in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA).

The university awards Scholarships to deserving aspirants on the basis of their performance in JEE (Main)/ HSC Examination.

For International Admissions:

The following categories of students can apply under the category of International students:

  • Person of Indian Origin (PIO)
  • PIO card holders
  • NRI students
  • Foreign nationals
  • Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)
  • NRI sponsored students

Eligibility Criteria

  • International Students can apply straight for admission to B.Tech. Degree  programmes without taking Entrance Examination
  • Aspirants should have finished 12 years of schooling (equivalent to 10+2 system of Indian education) with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology as mandatory subjects
  • Aspirants should have born on or after July 1, 1994
  • Aspirants should possess an at least aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology

Documents Need for Admission:

  • All the international students except NRI students require a student visa endorsed to this University for joining full-time courses
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) who possess either OCI (Overseas Indian Citizenship) or PIO card do not require Indian Visa. However, PIOs who do not have PIO or OCI card have to apply for the student visa
  • Photocopies of the following documents:
  • NRI aspirants should produce Employer Certificate of the sponsor-either Father or Mother
  1. NRI bank account passbook (front page photocopy)
  2. Passport copy of the parent having NRI status
  3. Passport copy of student (except for NRI-S aspirants)
  • Certificates of educational qualifications
  • Medical fitness certificate
  • Equivalence certificate alloted by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
  • Undertaking duly countersigned by Parent/Guardian
