BITS Pilani (Birla Institute of Technology and Science) is one of India’s leading higher education institutes and a deemed university. It provides admission to Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) program.

Students must have Master’s Degree in relevant branch with at least 60% marks to be applicable to the program. But the admission procedure is still underway. The registration has been closed on May 16, 2017. The application fee is INR 2200.

The selection is done on the basis of written test and interview round. Aspirants must qualify both the stages of selection procedure to be applicable for admission to Ph.D. program in BITS Pilani.

Eligibility Criteria for BITS (Birla Institute of Technology and Science) Pilani Ph.D. Admission 2018

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science, M.Phil/Ph.D in Engineering & M.Phil/Ph.D in Management

To be applicable for admission to Ph.D. program in BITS, aspirants must fulfil the clear eligibility criteria mentioned below:

  • Students with an M.Sc./ B.E or an equivalent with at least of 60% marks will also be considered for provisional admission to the Ph.D. program.
  • For Ph.D. program in languages and humanities, aspirants with M.Phil/ MA and with at least of 55% aggregate may also be considered. Such aspirants have to undergo an at least of two-semester coursework prescribed by DRC.
  • Aspirants must have M.E./ M.Pharm./ MBA/ M.Phil or equivalent degree with minimum 60% marks from a recognised university or institute.

The registration is done in offline method only. Aspirants who wish to apply can download the application form from the official website of the institute i.e. www.bits-pilani.ac.in. Applications received after the due date will not be accepted. The last date of registration is May 16, 2017.

Students required to pay an application fee of INR 2200 at the time of registration procedure. Fill the application form with all need information

Selection Procedure of BITS (Birla Institute of Technology and Science) Pilani Ph.D. Admission 2018

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science, M.Phil/Ph.D in Engineering & M.Phil/Ph.D in Management

The selection procedure consists of written test followed by an interview. Students will get the period of one hour to attempt all the questions. Those who will qualify both stages of selection procedure will be considered for admission.

  • Qualified aspirants in interview will be considered for admission to Ph.D. program in BITS.
  • Applications establish appropriate for admission will be called for written test.
  • Shortlisted aspirants on the basis of their performance in the written test will be called for interview round.

Pattern and Syllabus

A. Aspirants shortlisted for written test in any of the following branches- Biological Science/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Physics have to appear for two written tests. Participants have to attempt 60 questions.

C. Aspirants shortlisted for Test in Pharmacy.

The question paper will be divided into two parts. Paper, I will include the following subjects: Two marks will be honoured for every accurate response and 0.5 marks will be deducted for every wrong response.

Paper II: Paper II is a subject-specific paper. Degree Program.

All the questions will be in MCQ pattern. Paper, I will be common for all branches and Paper II will be branch specific.

Paper I: The question paper consists of 30 MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions). Each question carries two marks. The questions will be based on the following topics. The question paper consists of 50 objective type of questions.

  • Quantitative Reasoning and Analysis
  • Research Aptitude
  • General Science

Paper II: Paper II is a subject based paper. 0.5 marks will be deducted for every inaccurate answer.

B. Aspirants applying for Ph.D. in Languages/ Humanistic Studies/ Economics need to appear for two written tests.

Paper I: Paper I will be common for all aspirants. The period of the paper is one hour only. Part-A would be common to all and would consist of questions in general Pharmacy subjects and Part-B will be based on the subject taken by students in their M.Pharm. Aspirants have to attempt 70 questions in the period of two hours.
