Banaras Hindu University (BHU) formerly known as Central Hindu College, is a Central University located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. It is known as one of the largest Residential Universities in Asia. The University is acknowledged as an Institute of National Importance. The Institute was founded in 1916 and is known for the different courses it provides to students at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

The admission to undergraduate courses at BHU is via Undergraduate Entrance Test (UET). The application procedure for UET begins by the end of January. In order to apply to UET, the aspirant must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognised board of education.

UET is organizeed offline and is objective in nature. The result for UET is declared around first or second week of June. The exam is organizeed separately for various streams. The entrance exam is organizeed in April or May every year.

Eligibility Criteria for BHU (Banaras Hindu University) B.A., LLB, B.Ed. and B.Com Admission 2018

BA

B.A. (H) Arts and B.A (H) Social Sciences

The aspirant must have passed Higher Secondary (Class 10+2) Examination from a recognised Board/ Council with minimum 50% marks. Also, the students must be 22 years old or below.

B.Com

B.Com (H) and B.Com (H) Financial Markets Management

The aspirant should have passed Higher Secondary (Class 10+2) Examination or equivalent with Commerce/ Mathematics/ Economics/ Computer Science/ Financial Markets Management/ Finance/ Vocational Courses concerned to Commerce as one of the compulsory subjects with minimum 50% marks. The students must be 22 years old or below.

LLB

LL.B. (H)

The aspirant must have finished their Graduation (10+2+3 format) which is recognised by the Bar Council of India, with minimum 50% marks from.

B.A LL.B. (H)

The aspirant must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination or equivalent with minimum 50% marks from a recognised Board/ Council.

B.Ed

B.Ed. and B.Ed. Special Education

The aspirant must have a Bachelor's and/or a Master's Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, or Sciences with minimum 50% marks. Or, the student must hold a Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Engineering or Technology with no less than 55% marks (40% marks for SC/ST students).

Note: As per the Bar Council of India, the students who have finished 10+2, Graduation, or Post-graduation via open Universities, are not applicable for admission in any of the Law courses provideed by the University.

Note: All the OBC and PC students will be given a relaxation of 5% marks in the Qualifying Examination and an age relaxation of 3 years (upper age limit) in eligibility requirements. The SC/ ST students are also given an age relaxation of 5 years in upper age limit. While the SC and ST students (except B.A LL.B. (H) and LL.B. (H)) has no at least marks requirement to be applicable for any course.


Application Process for BHU (Banaras Hindu University) B.A., LLB, B.Ed. and B.Com Admission 2018

BA, B.Ed & B.Com

The students wishing to appear in the UET required applying for the same. The application form and all the other important details regarding the Entrance Test and admission can be established on the Entrance Test Portal of BHU.

Students can apply online only. The students are expected to download their Hall Ticket as per the schedule followed by the Entrance test, merit lists, and the Selection/Admission Process.

After filling the application form with valid contact details, and uploading the images of student's photograph and signature, students required to pay the Application fee which is as follows.

  • General/ OBC Category - INR 500
  • SC/ST Category - INR 250

In case an application is made for more than one course, the aspirant will be required to submit an additional fee as explained below:

  • SC/ST Category - INR 100
  • General/ OBC Category - INR 200

After successful payment, the application form is considered to be submitted successfully.

B.Com

The selection for the B.A., LL.B., B.Ed., and B.Com courses are done on the basis of merit. Merit lists are released for each course.

Entrance exam for B.Com. (Hons.) and B.Com. (Hons.) in Financial Markets Management

B.Ed

Entrance Exam details for B.Ed. and B.Ed. Special Education

The university organizes a common entrance examination for both B.Ed. and B.Ed. in Special Education. It will have two sections. Out of the 100 questions, section one will have 30 questions and section 2 will have 70 questions. The section/subject-group wise topics are given below:

LLB

The entrance exam will be objective in nature. The Preference Entry Form can be modified there after talking to the available teachers. The steps involved in the declaration of the result are explained below.

Step 1 - Getting the Call Letter and filling the Preference Entry Form.

Selected students are given a Call Letter (electronic). The students than required to fill a Preference Entry Form. The payment can be done online as well as offline. The selected students are informed about their Call Letter via an e-mail on their registered e-mail id.

Further, Students are supposed to undergo a counselling process. A printout of the form is taken and signed. of questions150Maximum marks450

The paper will also have language comprehension section in both Hindi and English. The test paper for BA LLB has language comprehension questions only in English.

The result for entrance test will be declared by the end of May or beginning of June. Students are given a Provisional Admission Letter (generally on the next day of the counselling).

Step 4 - Making the fee payment. A proof of the same has to be submitted at the Counselling venue (not need in case of online payment).

Note: Up-gradation of seats according to the preference may be available in subsequent Counselling days. The same can be downloaded from the Entrance Test Portal.

Students are then expected to visit the Counselling venue on the particular date and time specified in the Call Letter. The University will announce the call-letters for counseling session on its official website. The questions in this section will be objective and aspirants need to respond either the Hindi language set or English language set.

The entrance test for BA LLB will be similar in structure except for one change. The signed Form is then submitted along with the original of the following documents for verification.

  • Class 10 Mark sheet and Certificate.
  • Graduation mark sheets and Certificate, if eligible.
  • High School Examination Certificate and Mark sheets.
  • UET Hall Ticket.
  • Transfer Certificate.
  • Migration Certificate.
  • Category Certificate, if eligible.
  • Physically Challenged Certificate.
  • Certificates proving proficiency in Sports in the case of sports seat.

Step 3 - Getting the Provisional Admission Letter.

After the documents verification, a computer will allot seats to the students based on the order of merit and student's preferences. The form is to be filled cautiously, for the selections are not only based on the marks obtained in the Entrance Test but also on the choices made by the students.

Step 2 - Attending the counselling on allotted date and time. In the case of any up-gradation, the students are intimated about it and changes are made accordingly.

Students have to login into their Entrance Test Portal account for the same. The exam format details is given below:
