Berhampur University M.Phil & Ph.D Admission 2018

Berhampur University is a public university which was founded on January 2, 1967. The University provides Research programs in over 16 various branches. The application form for research program is made available on the official website of the University by the end of the month of November every year. Interested aspirants should send the filled-in application form to the University via Registered or Speed Post only. 

The general eligibility needs to apply for M.Phil. and the Ph.D. program is a Post Graduate degree in a relevant branch. However, there is certain specialized eligibility for various branches as well. Check detailed eligibility criteria for Research Programs at Berhampur University

Aspirants can get admission to the M.Phil courses via an entrance test followed by an interview organized by the university. For admission to Ph.D. courses, an aspirant will have to appear for URET entrance test and an interview organized by the Staff Council of the related Department.

Eligibility Criteria
M.Phil. (Botany) & M.Phil. (Zoology)

An aspirant must possess an M.Sc. degree in Life Science from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks in Post Graduate degree. The minimum marks need in the qualifying examination for SC/ST aspirants is 50%.

M.Phil. (Women Studies)

  • An Aspirant must secure 50% marks in the entrance test. Aspirants belonging to the SC/ST required to score 40% marks in the entrance test.
  • The aspirant must possess a post graduation degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks for general aspirants and 50% marks for aspirants belonging to SC/ST category.

M.Phil. (Marine Science)

The aspirant must possess a MA/M.Sc/M.Com or any other equivalent examination from a recognized university with at least 55% marks for general aspirants and 50% marks for SC/ST category aspirants.

Ph.D. (Education) , Ph.D. (Political Science) & Ph.D. (Pharmacy)

  • College teachers and professionals with at least 48% marks at master’s level and with 15 years of experience are qualified for admission in the Ph.D. course.
  • Foreign national aspirants should have prior security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs and approval of the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  • The aspirant must possess a master’s degree with at least 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST and physically challenged aspirants) from a recognized university.

Application Procedure

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science , M.Phil/Ph.D in Commerce & M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts

The application form for admission to the M.Phil. and the Ph.D. program can be downloaded from the University website. Aspirants can register themselves to the M.Phil course by submitting the fee of Rs. 1000/- (INR 1100 for the Ph.D. course) via DD only towards procedures and entrance test fee, drawn in favor of the Head of the Department related for which admission is sought/Director, WSRC in case of M.Phil in Womens’ Studies, and payable at the SBI, Bhanja Bihar Berhampur-760007. In case of M.Phil in women studies, the form will be sent to the Director Women’s Studies Research Centre.  Aspirants have to send the filled in application form along with all the documents to the head of the related department. The forms must be sent through Speed Post or Registered Post. Forms will not be accepted if submitted in person. 

Enclosures:

  1. Certificates and Mark Sheets of all examinations from H.S.C. to Master’s Degree.
  2. Certificate of teaching experience, if any.
  3. Copies of publications, if any.
  4. Organize Certificate from the institution last attended.
  5. No objection certificate from the employer, if employed.
  6. Certificate in support of his/her claim against reserved quota (SC and ST) allowed by competent Revenue Authority.
  7. Two self-addressed envelopes of size 22 × 10 cm each affixed with postage stamps worth Rs. 25/- (rupees twenty-five) only.
  8. Original Bank Draft/Banker’s Cheque drawn in favor of Head of the Department (for which admission is sought)/Director, WSRC towards procedures and entrance test fee.

Admission Procedure

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science , M.Phil/Ph.D in Commerce & M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts

  • Selection of the aspirant to M.Phil course is done on the basis of entrance test followed by an interview organized by the university.
  • At the time of the interview, an aspirant will have to produce the original documents before the selection Committee for verification.
  • Selection of the aspirant to the Ph.D. courses is done on the basis of URET entrance test organized by the university.

Enclosures need at the time of the interview:

  1. Three recent colored stamp size photographs.
  2. T.C./College Leaving Certificate in the original.
  3. Organize Certificate in original from the Head of the Institution last attended.
  4. University Registration Receipt in original in case of students of Berhampur University.
  5. Migration Certificate in case of students of Universities other than Berhampur University.
  6. Relieve Order in original from the Employer for one year, if he/she is employed.
  7. A self-addressed envelope of size 22 × 10 cm affixed with postage stamps worth Rs.30/- (Rupees thirty only).
  8. A Bank Draft for the stipulated amount as mentioned in the intimation letter drawn on State Bank of India (Bhanja Bihar Discipline, Code: 2107) payable to the Comptroller of Finance, Berhampur University.
  9. Certificate from a recognized Medical Practitioner indicating Blood Group of the participant.
  10. Duly filled in prescribed Affidavits (Annexure – I & II) in non-judicial stamp paper in original are to be submitted in case you are admitted.

  • 13% seats are reserved for the aspirants who belong to ST category and 9.5% seats are reserved for the aspirants who belong to SC category.
  • 15% supernumerary seats are reserved for the foreign aspirants.
