Bangalore University Ph.D. Admission 2018

Bangalore University invites applications for Ph.D. Programmes. Aspirants desirous for admission may collect the application form from sales unit of  Central College Campus, Bangalore University or by downloading the application form and prospectus from the website of the university.

The Aspirants will have to appear for an Entrance Examination organized by the university.

Aspirants who have their scores of the qualifying examination(UGC/UGC-CSIRJRFTest/NET/ SLET/ SET/ GATE/ Recognised young researchers by DST, UGC, CSIR, AICTE, etc./ obtained M.Phil. degree via regular coursework) will be evaluated on the basis of their score.

Eligibility Criteria

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Science

Aspirants who have obtained any Master's Degree from a recognized University or institute securing minimum 55% marks is qualified to apply for the Ph.D. Degree Programme.

In case of SC/ST/Cat-I/Differently abled aspirants, the minimum marks are 50% to be qualified to apply for Ph.D. Degree.

Application Procedure

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Science

  1. To download Application form aspirants must visit the university website.
  2. The aspirants must fill the forms as directed and submit the forms before or on 11th October 2014.
  3. The aspirants must upload a recent passport size photograph and a valid e-mail address for successful registration.
  4. The aspirants need to upload the fee paid challan of the bank. The admit card for entrance examination will only allocate to those who have uploaded the Bank Challan.
  5. The aspirants who will be taking admission via entrance examination will have to pay online Rs. 2000/- and the aspirants who will not be appearing for the entrance examination will have to pay Rs.1500/- while submitting the application form.
  6. After the application forms are submitted online, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the registered e-mail address of the aspirant. The e-mail will contain the username and password and other instructions to further proceed with the completion of the registration procedure.
  7. The aspirants shall download two sets of duly filled in Application Form and retain one set for his/her reference and one set to be sent to The Registrar (Evaluation), Pareeksha Bhavan, Jnanabharathi Campus, Bangalore University, Bangalore – 560 056.
  8. The application forms which are incomplete/unqualified and received after the last date will automatically stand rejected and no communication regarding the same will be made to the aspirants.
  9. The Hall tickets of the qualified aspirants must be downloaded between 18.11.2016 to 23.11.2016 by entering their date of birth or mobile number.

Selection Procedure

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Science

The aspirants who will be appearing for the entrance examination will be selected on the basis of the marks obtained by them in the examination. After the examination result is declared, there will be a releasement for the provisional list of the eligible aspirants who are qualified for further procedure. The who have their UGC/UGC-CSIRJRFTest/NET/ SLET/ SET/ GATE scores will be evaluated on the basis for the scores of the qualifying examination.

Reservation Criteria

Relaxation Schedule:

Caste/Scheduled Tribes /Category-I students: Relaxation of 5% in minimum marks is the need for admission to P.G Courses for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes/Category –I students of “Karnataka Students” is permitted.

Remission to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes /Category-I students: A remission of remission up to 5% in minimum marks need for eligibility to apply for admission to any course provided in the University is allowed in case of SC/ST/Cat-I aspirants of Karnataka State only, offered that this relaxation is necessary to fill the quota of reservation when aspirants with higher percentage of marks are not available in this category.


Seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Category 1, II A, II B, III A, and III B as per the Government Order No. SWD 150 BCA dated 17th September 1994. The extent of a percentage of reservation of these different categories is as follows:
