Bangalore University provides admission in MBA & MCA program in both day & evening method on supernumerary seats. It is for those who have not appeared in the national entrance exam, they have to qualify PGCET. Students can obtain the application form from Canara Bank School of Management Studies for MBA & for MCA from respective departments. Apart from National level exam the university also takes admission via PGCET entrance exams. The exam is scheduled to be organized in the month of July. Students are recommended to check the bifurcation of available seats as given below:

Eligibility Criteria

MCA

Eligibility

  • For lateral entry of MCA, aspirant who has passed recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum of 3 years period examination in BCA, B. / Computer Science) with Mathematics at 10 + 2 level or at Graduate Level and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks taken together in all the subjects in all the years of the Degree Examination is qualified for admission to MCA courses (45% of marks in Q. E. in case of SC, ST and Category-I of Karnataka aspirants)
  • The aspirant shall have passed Bachelor Degree with not less than 50% of marks with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science / Computer Programming/ Computer Applications / Business Mathematics / Business Statistics as one of the Optional or Electives at Degree level. Sc (I.T. Offered further that, in respect of an aspirant who has studied and passed one of the subjects specified in the First provision in the Pre – University course with 50% of marks in that subject shall also be considered for admission.

No PartTime courses are provided for MCA.

MBA/PGDM

MBA (regular mode):

An Aspirant who has passed Bachelor Degree examination with not less than 50% of marks in aggregate in all the three years of Degree examination.

MBA (Evening mode):

  • Honors Degree via 0+2+4 format from a recognized University under UGC Act having at-least 50% marks in aggregate including languages.
  • After graduation, a minimum of 2-year experience as full-time supervisory in any organization with a turnover of minimum Three million and employing not less than 50 employees. However in the case of a teacher working in the university or affiliated colleges, two years of full-time teaching experience is essential.
  • Aspirants who pass Bachelor / Master degree in any University system in the single sitting format are not qualified.
  • In case of non-teaching (full time regular) employees of Bangalore University, a minimum of 5 years’ experience is necessary.
  • Aspirants who have passed Bachelor / Master Degree via Correspondence / Open University system from this University or from any other University recognized by law are exempted from 10+2 format. The period of the Degrees must be 3 years / 2 years respectively.
  • A Graduate Degree under 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 format under any branch securing at least 50% marks in aggregate including languages from a recognized University.

Application Procedure

MCA & MBA/PGDM

Step 1: Enter all the details through Online by browsing URL http://kea.kar.nic.in on the web by selecting "PGCET". After completion of all the details Students will receive an application ID and Password to their registered email address.

Step 2: Upload the scanned copy of the recent passport size Colour Photo and Signature in .JPEG format separately.

Step 3: Download and take the printout of the Challan copy which is the triplicate. Students of Karnataka origin have to pay an amount of INR 500/- for General / OBC & INR 250/- for SC/ST. The Students have to pay the requisite fee in any of the branches of specified Banks. The Bank will retain its copy of the Challan and handover the remaining the two copies if the Challan to the Students.

Step 4: Download and take the printout of the application form on A Size paper. Affix Student’s recent passport size photograph, Signature, Left-hand Thumb Impression on the space provided. Afterward, obtain Principal seal and signature from the college where you have studied final year degree examination on the space provided in the printed form. The same copy should be produced during document verification along with the copy of Challan (KEA Copy).

Mode of Payment

Students need to pay an application fee of Rs.500/- for General/OBC Category and Rs.250/- for CAT-1/SC/ST through DD in favor of Finance Officer, Bangalore University, Bangalore.

SSLC Marks CardSSLC or 10th standard or equivalent examination marks card.
Caste/Caste Income CertificateStudents seeking reservation benefit should produce a Caste Certificate in Form ‘D’ in case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes; in Form ‘E’ in case of Category -1; a Caste Income Certificate in Form ‘F’ for Other Backward Classes such as 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B, issued by the concerned Jurisdictional Tahasildar, in accordance with the Government order No. Sa Ka E 225 BCA 2000 dated 30th March 2002, as amended from time to time. The validity period of Caste / Income Certificate is as per the Circular No. SWD155BCA2012.
Qualifying Degree Marks CardQualifying degree marks cards.
Study CertificateStudy Certificate to show that the Student has studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of SEVEN years from 1st standard to 12th standard or qualifying examination issued by the Head of the institution. Further, School study certificates should be countersigned by the concerned Block Educational Officer (BEO)/Deputy Director of Public Instructions (DDPI) compulsorily. Rural Study CertificateStudents who claim a seat under rural category will have to obtain a rural study certificate from the respective school / high school issued by the head of the institution which should be Countersigned by the concerned Block Educational Officer (BEO).
Kannada Medium CertificateStudents claiming the benefit of Kannada Medium reservation Should produce a certificate for having studied for 10 full academic years in Kannada medium from 1st standard to 10th standard issued by the Head of the educational institution and such certificate should be countersigned by the respective BEO or Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI).
Other CertificatesDocuments to be enclosed for any other claims of the Students

Selection Procedure

MCA & MBA/PGDM

In accordance with Admission Rules, preference will be given to Bangalore University students with domicile. If the seats are still not filled, then the third preference will be given to students belonging to Karnataka and from Universities within Karnataka and last preference will be given to outside Karnataka students. Even after filling up of these seats, if the seats are vacant, second preference will be given to the students who have graduated from Bangalore University but who are not of Karnataka domicile. Any unfilled seats will be frozen.

Reservation Criteria

Relaxation Schedule:

Caste/Scheduled Tribes /Category-I students: Relaxation of 5% in minimum marks is the need for admission to P.G Courses for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes/Category –I students of “Karnataka Students” is permitted.

Remission to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes /Category-I students: A remission of remission up to 5% in minimum marks need for eligibility to apply for admission to any course provided in the University is allowed in case of SC/ST/Cat-I aspirants of Karnataka State only, offered that this relaxation is necessary to fill the quota of reservation when aspirants with higher percentage of marks are not available in this category.

RESERVATION OF SEATS

Seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Category 1, II A, II B, III A, and III B as per the Government Order No. SWD 150 BCA dated 17th September 1994. The extent of the percentage of reservation of these different categories is as follows:
