Banasthali University is located in Tonk, Rajasthan. The University is known for its equal emphasis on education and extra-curricular activity. Banasthali Vidyapith is a women-only university which provides education from primary to university level.

Banasthali Vidyapith provides Research courses viz. M.Phil and Ph.D. in multiple streams such as education, design, science, arts, management, and music. Banasthali University begins the application procedure for admission to its research courses in the month of April (M.Phil) and December (Ph.D) every year.

Aspirants will be shortlisted for admission to the M.Phil and Ph.D courses based on performance in merit-cum-aptitude test and marks scored in Research Aptitude Test (RET), respectively. The entrance exam for admission to M.Phil/ Ph.D programme is usually organized in the month of June/December every year.

Eligibility Criteria
M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts, M.Phil/Ph.D in Science & M.Phil/Ph.D in Pharmacy

For Ph.D programmes:

In case of Ph.D admissions, aspirants (only women) should have obtained Master’s degree in the relevant field of study with at least 55% aggregate of marks or should have elected the National Eligibility Test (NET) organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The aspirant who possesses at least 5 years work experience (Teaching/Industrial/Research) may be given relaxation of 5% in the minimum need aggregate by the Vice-Chancellor for registration to Ph.D programme

The concession from the requirement of appearing in RET:

  • An aspirant who have eligible NET, SLET, GATE or M.Phil. (If the aspirant was admitted to M.Phil. via a research entrance test) may be exempted from the entrance test.
  • An aspirant belonging to the Faculty of Fine Arts (Visual Art, Music & Dance) and Design, will be exempted from the entrance examination. Such aspirants should contact the research section separately.

For M.Phil programmes:

For M.Phil admissions, aspirants (only women) must possess MA/M.Sc degree in the relevant field of specialization with at least 55% aggregate of marks.

Banasthali University application procedure begins in February every year. The application form can be submitted both online and offline. The procedure to obtain application form is given below:

The application form for Post Graduate courses at Banasthali University can also be accessed on the official website of the university. The steps to obtain the application form online is given below:

  1. Visit the official website for Banasthali University.
  2. On the homepage click on the Admission tab. You can locate this tab on the left-hand side of the page.
  3. Click on the Online Admission Form tab.
While applying via the online method, a Aspirants must have DD of 800 INR (1700 INR in case of late submission) drawn in favor of Banasthali Vidyapith, payable at Banasthali/Jaipur. Online application forms cannot be submitted without the requisite DD details.

For M.Phil programme:

Selection of aspirants to M.Phil programme will be done based on the merit-cum-aptitude test, organized by the university itself in the month of June every year.

For Ph.D. programme:

Aspirants will be shortlisted for admission to the Ph.D programme on the basis of their performance in Research Entrance Test (RET), organized by the university in December every year.

Pattern of RET - 100 multiple choice questions (MCQs)

  • 70 questions – Relevant Subject
  • 30 questions – Research Aptitude


Application Procedure for Foreign/NRI aspirants

The University has a limited number of seats reserved for foreign/NRI/NRI sponsored aspirants. For such aspirants, the University considers marks scored in the qualifying examination and does not organize any aptitude test.

Foreign aspirants will be required to submit the following documents at the time of admission:

  1. Original certificates/Mark sheets of the qualifying examination.
  2. Duly attested photocopy of the passport and visa of the participant or guardian.
  3. NRI Account Number or Foreign Bank Account Number of the participant/guardian.
  4. Declaration regarding the NRI status of the participant or guardian
