Alagappa University, Kariakudi was instituted in 1985 with the aim to encourage research and development in different discipline of learning. In addition of regular degree programs, the university also provides distance programs in over 56 Under Graduate and Post Graduate programs. The university enjoys an ‘A’ grade by NAAC and has emerged as a centre of advanced learning in the state of Tamilnadu.
The Directorate of Distance Education, Alagappa University was founded in 1992 with an aim to offer innovative, job-oriented, and socially relevant programs in Arts, Commerce, Science, Management, Education, and IT fields. The Distance Education programs are also provideed in South-East Asian countries such as Singapore and Malaysia; and in Middle-East countries, viz., Bahrain, Qatar, Dubai, and at Sri Lanka. The University has a total of 218 study centres to offer an all-around guidance to its students enrolled in distance programs.
As part of its distance education courses, the university provides a distance program in Bachelor of Education. Complete eligibility for Distance B.Ed. program. The eligibility for distance B.Ed. remains the same as regular B.Ed., that is, a graduate degree in any branch and should have relevant teaching experience.
The admission procedure for this program is entirely offline. Check out the Admission Process for Distance B.Ed. program. An aspirant can take admission by submitting their certificates straight to the University or to their nearest study centres.

The admission procedure for Distance B.Ed. the program is offline. Such aspirants will be sent course material straight from the university and will have to attend contact classes and examination at the University campus in Karaikudi itself. Aspirants need to attach certain documents along with their application form. For such aspirants, the study material will be sent via the respective study centre and they will have to appear for the examination at the study centre as well. The documents need for admission via Study centres is given below:

Aspirants can also submit the filled-in application form from any of the approved study centres. The admission form can be procured from the University office straight or from one of the 218 approved study centres via the following methods:
Direct Admission to the University
Aspirants can submit the filled in application form in person from the Directorate of Distance Education, Alagappa University, Karaikudi. (The Original Certificates will be returned after verification).
The aspirant can straight take admission to the B.Ed. program. There is no selection criteria to take admission in programs DDE, Alagappa University. Students who take admission straight via university have to contact the university at Karaikudi for classes and examination while students who take admission via study centres must attend classes arranged by them.
