Annamalai University is the first private university and one of Asia's largest public residential universities situated in India. The university is one of the first institutions in the country to provide courses of higher education in science, engineering, humanities, agriculture, and arts. A pioneer in imparting quality education, it was taken over by the Tamil Nadu government in 2013 and has emerged as one of the largest public residential university with 10 faculties and 49 departments of study. The university also offers more than 500 courses via distance learning mode.

The university provides the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programmes in the following branches:

Aspirants who have secured their Master’s Degree can apply for M.Phil./Ph.D. programme via online/offline registration procedure. Those who seek admission can download the application form available at the university website or obtain it in person / via post from the university office.

Finished applications, along with the processing fee, should access the university office on or before the last date. Final selection of the aspirant will be done on the basis of their performance in entrance and interview, to be organizeed by the university.

Annamalai University M.Phil & Ph.D. Admissions 2018 Eligibility Criteria

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Education, M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Arts & M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Science

For admission to the M.Phil. Degree Programmes, an aspirant has to fulfill the following minimum qualifications:

  • For SC/ST and differently abled aspirants, there will be a relaxation of 5% marks for the minimum eligibility for admission.
  • Teachers of Annamalai University who have put in two years of service are qualified to register for M.Phil. (Part-time) degree as per eligibility norms. Such participants should send finished applications to the Registrar via proper channel.
  • Aspirants who have secured their Master’s Degree under (11 + 1) / (10 + 2) +3 +2, and (10 + 2) + 5 format of courses of study are qualified. Music / M.F.A. Aspirants who have passed Master’s Degree via Open University system are not qualified.

Annamalai University M.Phil & Ph.D. Admissions 2018 How to Apply?

M.Phil/Ph.D in Science , M.Phil/Ph.D in Engineering & M.Phil/Ph.D in Arts

  • Aspirants must apply for admission via any of the available registration procedure. Registration can be done by filling the application forms either online/by post/in person.
  • Application forms can also be downloaded from the University website. Aspirants applying online must enclose a DD of Rs. 1000/- for M.Phil. and Rs. 1500/- for Ph.D. drawn in favor of “The Registrar, Annamalai University” payable at Chennai. Aspirants must write his/her name and course on the back side of the Demand Draft.
  • Aspirants can obtain the application forms in person from Cash Counter, Administrative Office, Annamalai University by paying an application fee of Rs. 1000/- for M.Phil. programme and Rs. 1500/- for Ph.D. programme
  • Aspirants can obtain the application forms by post from the Registrar,  Annamalai University, by sending a requisition letter along with a DD for Rs. 1050/- for M.Phil. programme and Rs. 1550/- for Ph.D. programme drawn in favor of “The Registrar, Annamalai University” payable at Chennai
  • Finished applications, in all respects, should access on or before August 14 to the following address:

Annamalai University M.Phil & Ph.D. Admissions 2018 Selection Procedure

M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Education, M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Arts & M.Phil/ Ph.D. in Science

  • The selection of aspirants shall be based on both a written test and an interview. The written test shall include objective type questions for 75 marks and examine research aptitude, grasp of the subject, intellectual ability, and general knowledge of the prospective aspirants. The interview will be organizeed for 25 marks
  • The Departmental Research Committee (DRC) will be responsible for the selection of aspirants to the M.Phil./Ph.D. degree Programme

Seats will be reserved for aspirants belonging to ST/SC/SCA/MBC/DNC//BC/ BCM/OC communities as per rules and regulations of the Government of Tamil Nadu
