Established in 1929, Annamalai University is the first private university and one of Asia's largest public residential universities situated in India. The university is one of the first institutions in the country to provide courses of higher education in science, engineering, humanities, agriculture, and arts. A pioneer in imparting quality education, it was taken over by the Tamil Nadu government in 2013 and has emerged as one of the largest public residential university with 10 faculties and 49 departments of study. The university also offers more than 500 courses via distance learning mode. The university provides admission to the following programmes:

  • Pharm.D. (Doctor of Pharmacy)
  • M.Sc. Nursing
  • Master of Physiotherapy – (M.P.T)

Only the aspirants with desired eligibility/qualification can apply for the above mentioned programme via online registration procedure. Admission of aspirants to the above mentioned programmes will be done on the basis of their performance in entrance test and interview, organized by the university.

Aspirants who satisfy the eligibility criteria can register themselves by downloading the related application form available at the university website. Finished applications should be submitted to the university office, along with the processing fee of Rs. 1000/- to complete the registration procedure

Eligibility Criteria

Master of Physiotherapy(MPT)

Period of the programme: 2 years

The university provides MPT in the following branches:

  • PT in Orthopaedic Conditions
  • PT in Paediatric Conditions
  • PT in Neurological Conditions
  • PT in Cardio-respiratory Conditions
  • PT in Sports Physiotherapy


Aspirant must have earned the B.P.T. degree of Annamalai University (or) a degree of any other University recognised as equivalent thereto by this University.

M.Sc (Nursing)

Period of the Programme: 2 years

The university provides M.Sc. Nursing in the following branches:

  • Psychiatric Nursing
  • Medical-Surgical Nursing
  • Community Health Nursing
  • Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing
  • Paediatric Nursing


  • Those want M.Sc. Nursing admission for specialization in Obstetrical & Gynaecological Nursing and Community Health Nursing shall be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife, whereas for other specialties the aspirant shall be a Registered Nurse.
  • The aspirant should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife of Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council with minimum one year of work experience in a Hospital or in a college or in a school of Nursing or in Community Health Programme
  • The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Hons. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks from an institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council. (For SC/ST aspirants minimum of 50% aggregate marks.)


Period of the Programme: 6 academic years after Higher Secondary


  • The aspirant must have passed 10+2 examinations with Physics and Chemistry as mandatory subjects along with one of the following subjects (Mathematics or Biology or Botany and Zoology)
  • Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations.
  • The aspirant must have passed Diploma in Pharmacy Course from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India, under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.

Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate)

Period of the Programme: 3 academic years


A pass in B. Pharm. from an institution approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) [Aspirant will enter into IV Year of Six Year Programme].

How to Apply?

Master of Physiotherapy(MPT) & M.Sc (Nursing)

Aspirants can register themselves for the above mentioned courses via the online application procedure.

  • The aspirant should log on to the official university website and fill the related application form to register for the MPT/M.Sc. (Nursing)/Pharm.D. programmes.
  • Finished applications, along with the necessary enclosures and registration fee, should be downloaded and submitted either by speed / Registered post or in person to the following address:
  • The aspirant should also submit a registration fee of Rs. 1000/- (For MPT/M.Sc. Nursing programme) and Rs. 600/- (For Pharm.D. courses) via demand draft (DD). DD should be drawn in favor of The Registrar, Annamalai University and payable at Chennai.  
  • Upon filling in all the relevant details, the aspirant will be allotted an online application number for future correspondence.

Admission Procedure

Master of Physiotherapy(MPT) & M.Sc (Nursing)

For MPT/M.Sc. Nursing programme:

Selection of aspirants will be done on the basis of their performance in the Entrance Examination and Interview, organized by the university.

For Pharm.D./Pharm.D. (PB) programme: degree merit Six years programme will be done on the basis of their qualifying examination merit i.e. higher secondary (10+2) examination merit

  • Selection of aspirants for Pharm.D. (PB) programme will be done on the basis of their qualifying examination merit i.e. B.Pharm.
    • Selection of aspirants for Pharm.D.
