Anna University is a technical university in Tamil Nadu, India. It was accredited with a five-star status by the UGC in 2012. The university provides 31 undergraduate, 64 post-graduate and 3 research courses in different branches. The main university campus is situated in Guindy, Chennai.

Anna University organizes the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) exam for the admissions to the Post Graduate programmes including M.E/M. The entrance test is usually organized in May every year with the registration procedure beginning in April. Tech. in the different colleges of Tamil Nadu.

Aspirants who have cleared the GATE exam in the same year will be exempted from appearing in the TANCET exam. You may also check the complete selection process for more.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA (M. Tech. TECH.)

  • The aspirant must have appeared for TANCET exam organized by Anna University.
  • GATE 2016 eligible aspirants in Engineering / Technology are exempted from TANCET 2016 exam though aspirants who have a valid GATE 2016 score in Engineering Science (XE) and Life Science (XL) papers should appear for TANCET 2016 also.
  • The aspirant must have a recognized Bachelorโ€™s degree B.E. / B. Tech. with minimum 50% marks (45 % in case of aspirants belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying examination.

Anna University M.Tech Admissions 2018 Application Procedure

ME/M.Tech

Aspirants can apply online or offline, briefing for both the methods is mentioned below:

Online Method:

  • Aspirants then need to click on TANCET 2015 and Online application form.
  • Upload a photograph and take the printout of the Application Form after submission
  • Aspirants can visit the official website of Anna University i.e. https://www.annauniv.edu  in order to download the application the form.
  • Fill in the need details in the form.
  • Aspirants will receive a unique registration number and password.
  • Send the hard copy along with the need documents and the Demand Draft.

Offline Method:

  • Aspirants can obtain the Application form from the specified Co-ordinating Centres**, by submitting a copy of the need documents.
  • Aspirants are alloted the TANCET admit card if their Registration is successful and their TANCET application is in order.
  • The TANCET 2016 Application Fees must be paid in cash or Demand Draft.

NOTE: Demand Draft of Rs.500/- (Rs.250/- for SC/SCA/ST aspirants) should be in favor of โ€˜The Secretary, TANCET, Anna University,โ€™ payable at Chennai, obtained from any Nationalised bank.

Anna University M.Tech Admissions 2018 Selection Procedure

ME/M.Tech

Selection is done on the basis of any one of the following:

  • Aspirants having a valid TANCET Score are selected for admission to M. (Score is valid for the present year only)
  • Seat allocation is on the basis of the rank of the aspirant and the options entered by aspirants.
  • Separate Rank Lists will be prepared for the aspirants on the basis of the entrance exam โ€“ GATE or TANCET
Tech./M.E programmes.
  • A limited number of seats are available for the aspirants (Sponsored aspirants) working in government organizations, government aided learning institutes.
  • The selection of aspirants will be via counseling, following the rules of reservation of Government of Tamil Nadu.
  • If two or more aspirants achieve same marks in the qualifying examination, preference will be given to those aspirants who have passed the all the subjects in pre-final /Semester/ Year and have the higher average percentage of marks up to pre-final/Semester/Year of the qualifying exam.
  • TANCET Exam Format

    • The question paper will have three parts with Part 1 & 2 being mandatory and Part 3 as per the branch is chosen by the aspirants while filling the TANCET Application Form.
    • The questions will be set at the undergraduate level.
    • Part 1 & 2 will have 30 questions with 1 mark for each accurate response
    • Negative marking of 1/3 for every wrong response.
    • Part 3: Aspirants must response 40 Questions in the chosen field with 1 mark for each accurate response

     

    TANCET Counseling Procedure 

    • Aspirants who have eligible in GATE or TANCET will need to apply separately for TANCA. Tech/M.E.
    • The counseling and Admissions are held via a separate procedure.
    • If aspirants have the need GATE score with qualifying marks for Assistant-ship in the suitable branch of engineering, they are admitted to M.
