IIPS [International Institute for Population Sciences] is a public university, founded in 1956 in Mumbai, previous known as International Institute for Population Studies. Besides teachings and research activities, the university also offers consultancy to the Government and Non-Government organizations and other academic institutions.
The university provides the following research programmes to its students:
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) – 3 years
Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) – 1 year
Admission of aspirants to M.Phil/Ph.D. programmes is done on the basis of their performance in written test and personal interview. Aspirants who wish to apply can register themselves by submitting finished applications, along with the procedure fees of Rs. 500/- and all the necessary enclosures. For SC/ST/PH aspirants, there is no procedure fee.
Aspirants must possess master’s degree in Population Studies/Demography/M.Sc. (Biostatistics and Epidemiology) from a recognized university with at least 55% aggregate marks in all subjects
Aspirant’s age should not be more than 30 years on or before June 30, 2018
Ph.D. (Population Studies)
Aspirants must possess M.Phil degree in Population Studies or Master's degree in Population Studies or M.Sc. in Bio-Statistics and Epidemiology of a recognized university with at least 55% of aggregate marks in all subjects.

Aspirants can obtain the application form and prospectus in person or via a post by sending a self-addressed Rs. 50/- stamped envelope on or before March 25, 2018 (tentative), to the following address:

Aspirants can register themselves by submitting duly filled-in applications and all the necessarily enclosures, along with the fee of Rs. 500/- via DD drawn from any nationalized Bank in favor of “The Director, IIPS, Mumbai” to the Assistant Registrar (Academic). Aspirants can also submit the procedures fee in cash at the university cash counter.
