About University

Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT), Gandhinagar was established in 2001. It is a technological named after the Gujarati entrepreneur and Reliance group founder Dhirubhai Ambani.

  • An act of the Gujarat Legislature provided for the establishment of the DA-IICT and conferred on it the status of a university. (Gujarat Government Gazette Volume XLIV, Thursday, 6 March, 2003)
  • On 30 November 2004, the DA-IICT as a private university was included in the list of universities maintained by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.
  • DA-IICT is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as approved by the AIU in its 84th Annual Meeting held during 12-14 November 2009.
  • It is located near Indroda Circle, in the famous Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
  • It has been recognised by the UGC. It is really a superb achievement for an institute.
  • The DA-IICT is also representing Wave 4 of the innovation regarding the education in Gujarat.
  • The institute is a non-affiliating university and does not receive any aid or other financial assistance from the Central or State Government.

Research and related activities at the institute constitute three broad categories:

  • Sponsored research activity requires the handing over of agreed-upon deliverables to the sponsoring agency or company.

  • Consultancy work by faculty members is also encouraged. Based on the specific technical expertise of a faculty member, an external agency engages his/her services for a specified period of time, or for specific assignment.

  • Basic research carried out by faculty members is based primarily on their own interest and initiative. This type of research usually results in research publications in international journals and/or conferences.
