TANCET 2019 or Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test 2019 is a state-level annual entrance test, conducted by Anna University (AU), Chennai on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The exam is organized for aspirants want admission into MBA, MCA & M.E/M. In this article, the salient features of TANCET 2019 entrance exam on the basis of past trends have been mentioned. Arch./M. Eligibility Criteria for TANCET 2019

AU sets the eligibility criteria for aspirants to appear in TANCET 2019. The criteria may vary on the basis of the program that aspirants are opting to get admission in. Details of TANCET 2019 Eligibility Criteria as specified by AU is tabulated below for each program:

Important Points to Note:

  • Participants appearing for the final examination of the qualifying degree Program (except programs provided by Professional Institutions like AMIE) in April/May 2019 are applicable to apply for TANCET 2019.
  • Participants from states other than Tamil Nadu can also apply for TANCET 2019. However, the final judgment regarding eligibility will be at the discretion of the University/respective authorities.
  • Participants possessing B.E./B. Tech. degrees obtained via Distance/Part-time methods are not applicable to apply.

TANCET Application Form 2019

TANCET 2019 Registration can be done only in the online method via the official website of AU. The Application Forms are expected to be available from January 2019 onwards. The steps involved in the application procedure are listed below:

  1. Visit the official website of AU, i.e. www.annauniv.edu
  2. Click on ‘TANCET 2019 Registration’
  3. Register with details like Participant’s Name, Date of Birth, Email ID. Participants would be prompted to enter a Password for ease of reach to the individualized information concerned to the entrance exam on the website.
  4. A system generated UID will be sent to participant’s registered email address upon successful completion of the registration procedure
  5. Participants can now log-in with the UID and password in order to clear filling the TANCET 2019 Application Form
  6. Upload participants’ recent passport-size color photograph as per the specifications offered on the website.

Please note that:

Once the form is submitted, the details in TANCET Application Form 2019 cannot be modified or changed. Hence, participants are advised to enter the details meticulously in order to avoid any mistakes.

A unique application number will be auto-generated once the application form, clear in all respects is submitted. Participants are advised to note this number and also obtain prints of the filled-in application form for future references.

TANCET 2019 Application Fee

The expected application fee for TANCET 2019, based on earlier year’s trend, is expected to be INR 500 for general category and INR 250 for SC/SCA/ST aspirants for any one of the programs (MBA/MCA/ME/M. Plan.). Tech./M. Arch./M.

Participants ready to apply for more than one program has to pay additional INR 500 (INR 250 for SC/SCA/ST aspirants belonging to Tamil Nadu) for each program applied for. The fee details are tabulated below for better understanding:

TANCET 2019 Hall Ticket

Participants who have submitted the Online Application Form clear in all respects along with the requisite fees will be allotted TANCET 2019 Hall Ticket. The same has to be downloaded from the official website, expectedly in March 2019. Please note that there are no other means of reaching TANCET Hall Ticket other than downloading from the website.

The Admit card will mention details like the participant’s registration number and the center issued for TANCET 2019. The steps involved in downloading the hall ticket are as follows.

  1. Visit the official website of TANCET 2019.
  2. Click on ‘TANCET 2019 Hall Ticket’ tab
  3. Enter User ID and Password.
  4. TANCET 2019 Hall Ticket is displayed on-screen.
  5. Download, save and print the document for the exam as well as for future reference.

Please note that the Hall Ticket is a compulsory document that obligations to be carried by aspirants in person at the time of exam as well as at the time of admission.

If the hall ticket is misplaced after the exam, a duplicate hall ticket can be obtained upon payment of INR 100 in the form of a Demand Draft (obtained from any Nationalized Bank drawn in favour of The Secretary, TANCET, Anna University, Chennai, payable at Chennai), with a written request indicating the Registration No. /Application No. and the name of the Examination Center.

TANCET 2019 Exam Centers

Participants can, during the application procedure, select their choice of exam center. However, the authority’s judgment in this regard is final and binding on all. The increment of exam center is done by the exam organizing authority on the basis of aspirants’ preferences.

The entrance is held in 15 centers across Tamil Nadu. On the basis of earlier years’ trends, the indicative list of exam centers for TANCET 2019 is tabulated below:


Exam Format for TANCET 2019

  • The period of the exam is 2 hours.
  • Each accurate response carries +1 mark while for every inaccurate response, -1/3 mark deducted. Unattempted questions are not evaluated. Multiple shading on the answer sheet will be considered as a wrong response and penalized accordingly.
  • Question paper for M. Tech, ME, M. Arch and M. Plan are segregated into 3 sections of which the first two sections are common and mandatory while the third section is based on specialized domain knowledge. Examinees have to response questions listed specifically under their respective area of study.
  • The exam includes 100 Multiple Choice questions, each question having 4 choices out of which examinees have to choose one.
  • The medium of the paper is English and Tamil.
  • TANCET 2019 will be an offline paper-based test. The answer sheets will be OMR-types wherein examinees have to highlight the accurate option with a ball-point pen.
