National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2019 is a national level entrance exam serving as a gateway for aspirants want admission into 5-year integrated M.Sc. program in Basic Sciences – Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. It is jointly organized by NISER (National Institute of Science Education & Research), Bhubaneswar & UM-DAE-CEBS (University of Mumbai-Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences), Mumbai.
Interested candidates for the exam must await the official notification which will announce in January 2019. Check below major highlights of the exam.
- NEST 2019 is expected to take place in the month of June 2019.
- Aspirants must fulfill the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam.
- Once the exam is over NEST Response Key will be announced separately for each set.
- NEST 2019 is a computer-based exam comprising 5 sections to be finished in 3 hours. Check NEST Exam Format 2019
- NEST Hall Ticket will be announced on the official website tentatively in the last week of April 2019.
- Aspirants can check their NERST 2019 result in the online method in the third week of June 2019.
- NEST Application form will be made available from January 2019 till March 2019.
After the results are declared, NEST Counseling will be organized in the online method on the basis of the merit list and generally, seats are filled in the first round of counseling. A waiting list is prepared on the basis of the merit list if the seats go vacant.

Important Dates for NEST 2019
NEST 2019 exam dates will be released in the month of January 2019 once the official notification is announced. The exam is scheduled to take place in the month of June 2019 which will be followed by the released result in the 3rd week of June.

Eligibility Criteria for NEST 2019
It is important for all the students to fulfill the at least eligibility norms in order to appear for NEST 2019 exam. Those who do not satisfy the eligibility criteria will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
Age Limit
- A relaxation of 5 years is offered on the upper age limit for SC/ST aspirants.
- Both general and OBC participants must be born on or after August 01, 1998.
Educational Qualification
- Mathematics as a compulsory subject at 10+2 level.
- Students from General or OBC category must score an at least of 60% marks in the qualifying examination i.e. class 12 board exams.
- Aspirants must have finished class 11 and 12 with any of the three as main subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.
- The students of reserved category i.e. SC/ST obligatory to score only 55% marks in the qualifying examination.
Nationality
- NRI students or PIO or OCI aspirants are not applicable to apply for the NEST 2019 exam.
- Only students who satisfy the rules of Indian citizenship are applicable to apply for the exam.
- Aspirants from J & K, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana state have a quota of 15%.
NEST 2019 Application Form will be made available from January 2019 in the online method only. So, the details once submitted cannot be edited. It must be noted that NEST does not offer a form correction window. Students must fill the form well in time if they wish to appear successfully for the exam.
Things to keep willing before filling NEST 2019 Application Form:
- Class X certificate/ mark sheets/ report card/ certificate.
- Scanned copy of the signature .jpeg or .jpg pattern. Size must be below 80 KB.
- Digital copy of the passport size photograph in .jpeg or .jpg pattern. Size must be below 80 KB.
The 4 step procedure for filling the application form is as follows:
- NEST Registration
- Open the official website of NEST, i.e. www.nestexam.in
- Fill the details of participant’s name, date of birth, class X roll number, gender, mobile number and email id on the page to clear the registration procedure.
- Your username and registration id will be generated and sent to the registered email id.
- Click on “apply online”.
- Enter the details of the captcha code and click on “submit” button.
- Filling Details
- Log in using your user id and password
- Enter the details of your educational qualification i.e. percentage in class X and XII and the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
- Fill the details of your permanent address and correspondence address.
- Uploading scanned copies of photograph and signature
Upload the scanned copy of your signature and photograph as per the dimensions defined.
- Payment of application fees
The application fee has to be paid in accordance with the category details. The application fee can only be paid in the online method via credit/debit card. The details of the application fee are as follows:

NEST Hall Ticket 2019
NEST Hall Ticket will be allotted to only those aspirants whose application form has been successfully accepted. Students must check the website in the last week of April 2019 to download their respective hall ticket.
Steps to download NEST 2019 Hall Ticket:
- Open the official NEST 2019 website, i.e. www.nestexam.in.
- Click on the tab “NEST 2019 Hall Ticket”.
- Offer the details of your registration number and password and click on “submit” button.
- NEST 2019 Hall Ticket will be displayed
- Download the copy of the hall ticket and take a print out for future use.
Exam Centers of NEST 2019
NEST Exam Centers are predefined by the organizing body for the convenience of candidates. Students obligatory to select only three exam centers from the list of centers given on the official website. There are a total of 106 exam centers at which the exam will be organized.
There is no provision for the introduction of additional exam centers if a request is sent to the NEST exam authorities. Students must report to the center prior to the reporting time given on the hall ticket.
There has been no addition or subtraction of exam centers reported by the authorities. In case of any change in the list, students would be updated by the announce of an official notification.
NEST 2019 Exam Format has not been changed since the program started. The details of the different aspects of NEST exam are as follows: The questions are still MCQ type and students obligatory to work on the syllabus thoroughly to crack the exam. There has been a modification in the syllabus at the time, but the medium of exam and exam method are the same.

NEST 2019 Syllabus and Advisable Books
NEST 2019 exam evaluates the aspirant's skills and knowledge of the basic subjects studied at the +2 level. Thus, the questions will be of moderate to easy difficulty level, some might appear tricky but the questions are basic in nature. NEST Result 2019
NEST 2019 Result will be declared in the online method in June 2019. Students will be able to check their result on the official website by providing the details of their registration number and password. NEST Scorecard will be displayed as part of the result declaration procedure and students obligatory to check the NEST result online.
Steps to download NEST Scorecard:
- Enter the captcha code displayed on the screen in the text box given for the same.
- Click on “submit” button and the NEST scorecard is displayed on the screen.
- Offer details of your username and password.
- Go to the official NEST 2019 website and check for the tab “NEST 2019 Result”.
Cut Off for NEST 2019
Cut off are the at least marks need by the aspirant to qualify the examination. Cut off will be declared separately for each of the section. Some of the terms mentioned on your NEST 2019 Scorecard along with their meaning have been explained below.
- Total score: Total score is the sum total of the performance of the aspirant in the three main sections or three main subjects. The main subjects would be considered on the basis of the score.
- SMAS (Section- Wise At Least Admissible Score): As per the directives of NISER to complete the section, the SMAS would be 20% of the average of the best 100 scores of the section. The score will be calculated out of 100 so if the average of best 100 scores in any subject (for instance Biology) is 40 out of 50, SMAS for Biology would be 20% of 40, which is 8. It is compulsory to score equal or more than SMAS in a section if you wish to qualify the section.
- MAS: MAS is 50% of the total weight of the exam, students must obtain marks equal or above MAS in order to be considered qualified. The MAS for OBC/General category aspirants is 90% and for PWD/SC/T aspirants it is 50%.
NEST 2019 Counseling
- Since it is a five-year integrated course so students obligatory to really focus on their real aspiration towards a specific course.
- In the individual interview, aspirants are counseled and mentally prepared for the course they are aspiring.
- In group discussion aspirant’s in-depth knowledge is checked.
