IIT Kanpur has announced admission criteria for MBA candidates. The admission will be based on CAT percentile and performance of the candidate in GD/PIs. Although IITs provide admission to the engineering courses, however, via CAT, IITs like Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur and Madras provide admission to PG Programs in Management as well based on CAT Scores.

- The final selection will be based on overall fulfilment of eligibility set by IIT Kanpur.
- A final merit list will be prepared accordingly and aspirants will be called for admission process, thereafter.
- The eligibility requirement comprises- CAT Score, Percentage in class 10 and class 12 and marks in bachelor’s degree.
- CAT cut off for IIT Kanpur is around 85 percentile for General and OBC category students, and is 75 percentile for other categories.
- Aspirants required to score at least CAT Cut Off to be applicable for admissions.
- Those who secure the at least need percentile will be called for GD and PI procedure.

As mentioned above, CAT cut off for IIT Kanpur is the at least percentile that an aspirant required to obtain to get admission in the MBA program of IIT Kanpur. The cutoff or at least percentile depends upon a lot of factors, such as a number of test takers or a number of available seats. However, before moving on to the cut off part, let us take a look at the at least eligibility criteria for getting shortlisted for admission or GD/PI rounds at IIT Kanpur:
Eligibility Criteria
- At least 65% marks or 6.5 CPI in the undergraduate or postgraduate course is a must.
- The aspirant must have obtained an at least of 85 percentile in CAT, for General/OBC category student. For all other categories, the at least percentile need is 75.
- They must score minimum 65% marks in Class 10 and 12.

Expected CAT Cut Off
The percentile for eligibility criteria for admission in IIT Kanpur may seem a mediocre one but the actual cutoffs for admissions go considerably higher than this. This is due to the reputation of the institute that it has created.
One more thing that plays an important role in the selection is the profile of aspirant. However, the expected CAT cut off, according to the trends in earlier years are as follows: IIT K gives preference to aspirants who have great academic scores and work experience, so aspirants can be in a situation when an aspirant with a bit lower percentile gets a call for GDPI procedure due to his work experience.
- CAT cut off for general category students generally goes as high as 95 percentile, where the cut of OBC also almost catches up with general category students at 92-93 percentile.
- The cut of other categories such as SC and ST is a bit lower than general and OBC categories, at around 85 percentile.
The above-shown percentile is the percentile which generally tends to be the final percentile for getting admission at IIT Kanpur. However, many aspirants do get shortlisted for GDPI round at around 90th percentile (General Category), but the chances of getting admission at such a percentile are very low.
IIT Kanpur MBA Admission Procedure 2018
IIT Kanpur Admission Procedure is much similar to other business schools in the country. The procedure is explained below-
- After the declaration of CAT Results, aspirants have to apply for admission at IIT Kanpur.
- The procedure actually begins with aspirant applying for and appearing in CAT Exam, as it is the basic and most necessary step.
- Application forms are generally made available on the next day of results.
- Shortlisted aspirants are invited to attend the GDPI procedure.
- An aspirant then has to appear in the Group Discussion and Individual Interview.
- After all this, aspirants are provideed admission according to their score in CAT and GDPI round.
- After this, IIT Kanpur prepares the merit lists and shortlists aspirants for GDPI procedure.
CAT Cut Off for Other IIMs
IIM, Ahmedabad has the highest cut off percentile set at 99.6 while among the other IIMs, IIM Raipur has the lowest percentile i.e., 90+. The CAT cut off for all the IIMs has been listed below for the convenience of CAT candidates.
