IIT Kanpur has announced admission criteria for MBA candidates. The admission will be based on CAT percentile and performance of the candidate in GD/PIs. Although IITs provide admission to the engineering courses, however, via CAT, IITs like Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur and Madras provide admission to PG Programs in Management as well based on CAT Scores.

The percentile for eligibility criteria for admission in IIT Kanpur may seem a mediocre one but the actual cutoffs for admissions go considerably higher than this. This is due to the reputation of the institute that it has created.
One more thing that plays an important role in the selection is the profile of aspirant. However, the expected CAT cut off, according to the trends in earlier years are as follows: IIT K gives preference to aspirants who have great academic scores and work experience, so aspirants can be in a situation when an aspirant with a bit lower percentile gets a call for GDPI procedure due to his work experience.
The above-shown percentile is the percentile which generally tends to be the final percentile for getting admission at IIT Kanpur. However, many aspirants do get shortlisted for GDPI round at around 90th percentile (General Category), but the chances of getting admission at such a percentile are very low.
