IES 2018 Cut Off – Expected and Previous Year Cut off by UPSC

IES cutoff is announced by UPSC after the declaration of results in March 2018. The exam is organized to shortlist engineers for different posts under GOI. The recruitment is done under the departments of Civil, Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication and Mechanical branches.
Cut off is announced separately for all the four branches. The statistics are available on UPSC Official Website i.e. www.upsc.gov.in. Listed below are quick facts concerned with IES Mains Cut Off:
- Aspirants securing 75 marks out of 500 marks in Prelims are applicable to appear for IES Mains.
- The final merit list is prepared by adding IES Prelims marks, Mains and Individuality Test scores.
- For Stage 2, the Commission has set cut off for Mains to 20% of the total marks.

It is an engineering branch dealing with utilizing nonlinear and active electrical components to design electronics, circuits, devices etc. The field is not that famous among the aspiring engineers.

- After taking a closer look, we easily conclude that from the year 2014 there is nearly a fixed increase in cut-off every year.
IES 2018 Selection Process after Stage 2
In order to get appointed under any government branch, engineering candidates need to complete 3 stages. They are as follows:
- The first is the preliminary round which promotes an aspirant to the second stage.
Note: Take note that marks obtained in the prelim round will not be calculated in the final selection.
- Aspirants are evaluated on the basis of their past qualification and individual records.
- The board examines their individuality and suitability for the job they have applied for.
- It is a 3 hour written test and the ones qualifying it are called for individual interview or individuality test. Check IES Exam Format
- The next stage is UPSC IES Prelims followed by final stage. Mains exam is organized in 2 parts that are written the examination and individual interview.
