IBPS PO Preliminary Result 2018 will be out in the 1st week of November 2018. The result for the main exam will be declared in the 1st week of December 2018. The first stage of IBPS PO exam for the Appointment of Probationary Officer is known as IBPS PO Preliminary Exam 2018. There will be the Negative marking of 1/4th for an inaccurate answer. The total marks allotted for IBPS PO Preliminary is 100 marks. This stage consists of 3 sections - Aptitude, Reasoning, and English.
To get qualified for IBPS PO 2018 Mains exam, aspirants must score the at least qualifying marks in all three sections and the total qualifying marks in IBPS PO Prelim exam.
Results for the Preliminary exam will be declared by IBPS with the cutoff list. An aspirant must know that the marks scored at this stage will not be considered in final merit as it is a qualifying exam only. The final merit list will be based on the Mains exam and Interview procedure. Aspirants who qualify the exam will be applicable for the Mains exam.
IBPS PO Mains 2018 is the 2nd stage of the appointment procedure for the post of probationary officer. As per the changes in IBPS PO Mains, aspirants required to qualify each section of the IBPS PO mains and also an at least qualifying mark in total to get shortlisted for the interview procedure. The total marks allotted for this section is 200 consisting 200 questions. There will be negative marking of 1/4th for each inaccurate answer. This stage of the exam consists of five sections - Aptitude, Reasoning, English, Computer Proficiency and general awareness.

As per the vacancies & the level of difficulty of questions, cut offs are determined and applicable aspirant with qualifying marks will be shortlisted for the interview procedure. Aspirants will get to know that they are shortlisted for the Interview procedure or not, as marks gained in mains exam will not be disclosed to aspirants before Interview procedure as the final merit list will be based upon the IBPS PO Mains and Interview Procedure.

The corrected scores obtained by the aspirants in each of the sessions will be normalized using the equi-percentile method. The corrected score is calculated by the number of accurate responses given by aspirant with a penalty of 0.25 marks for each wrong response. So if an aspirant scores 30 accurate responses and 8 wrong responses, then the total score of the aspirant will be 28 ( 30 - 2 ).
IBPS PO exam is held in various states, multiple venues, morning/evening shifts. Each of the shifts having a various set of question paper online (although the syllabus and format are same). Since the question papers are different, the level of question paper varies. Therefore, it is unfair for the aspirants to judge them on various parameters as there is no equality in papers for every aspirant.
Due to variation in difficulty level, IBPS normalize the score to take care the difference in the level of questions. No aspirants should feel a loss in attempting a session which had a tougher set of paper. By using equi-percentile mode IBPS makes sure no biasing takes place between aspirants.
IBPS PO 2018 Exam will be organized into morning and evening shifts on the pre-decided dates. After the completion of IBPS PO 2018, aspirants can check the response key on the official website. IBPS PO 2018 Response Key will be available on the official website of IBPS i.e, www.ibps.in. The response key will be published in 4 various sets- Set A, Set B, Set C, and Set D.
The cutoff marks are the at least mark that participants will have to score to qualify the exam. However, this marks will not be considered for the final merit list. To get shortlisted for the Interview procedure, aspirants required to qualify the mains exam. The final merit list will be based upon the marks scored in mains exam and the Interview procedure.
Aspirants must note that there is sectional cutoff marks and additional cutoff marks in both Prelims and Mains exam. The cutoff marks will surely depend on different factors such as a number of participants, a difficulty level of exam, number of vacancies available etc.
Aspirants who have qualified the IBPS PO Mains exam will be shortlisted for the final of the appointment procedure i.e., IBPS PO Interview. The total marks for the interview are 100. The aspirant should score minimum 40% marks in the Interview to get selected for the post of the Probationary officer. However, Aspirants belonging to reserved category have to score minimum 35% marks in the interview procedure.
The weight ratio of Mains exam and Interview is 80:20 respectively. Aspirants who score higher marks in mains exam will have better chances to get selected for the provisional allocation procedure. The final selection of the aspirants will be on the basis of merit list which comprises performance of aspirant in mains exam and interview.
