CAT 2018 (Common Admission Test)

CAT 2018 Notification will announce in July. Download CAT 2018 Syllabus PDF IIT Delhi is expected to organize the Common Admission Test 2018 in November.

  • CAT 2018 Registration will begin in August 2018. Application Form will be available at CAT 2018 Official Website.
  • A total of 100 questions from Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Ability, and Data Interpretation will be there in CAT Exam. 
  • The at least eligibility criteria for CAT 2018 is graduation with at least 50% marks and 5% of relaxation for SC/ST category. Read CAT 2018 Exam Dates
  • Successfully registered aspirants can download their CAT 2018 Hall Ticket from October onwards.

Once the result is declared, aspirants can start applying to colleges as per CAT 2018 Cutoff. The final selection of aspirants will be made upon the marks in Group Discussion and Individual Interview, organized by personal colleges.

Eligibility Criteria for CAT 2018

  • Educational Qualification- Bachelor’s degree in any stream from any recognised university with minimum 50% marks
  • Nationality- Citizen of India
  • Number of Attempts- No fixed number of attempts
  • Age Limit- No upper / lower age limit

CAT Registration 2018

The registration for CAT 2018 will be held between August- October. It will comprise 3 main steps- Filling CAT application form, uploading important documents and payment of the fee. To apply for CAT 2018, follow the below steps: 

  1. Visit CAT 2018 Official Website
  2. Register as ‘New User’
  3. Log-in using User ID and Password sent to the registered email ID
  4. Fill details in CAT Application Form 2018
  5. Upload scanned image of photograph and signature 
  6. Pay fee of INR 1800 (General category)/ INR 900 (reserved category) via credit /debit card/internet banking of any bank
Note: The option to choose any 4 preferred exam centers will be available at the time of form filling.

CAT Hall Ticket 2018

CAT 2018 Hall Ticket will be available in November. To download CAT 2018 Hall Ticket, follow the below steps:

  1. Log on to the official website of CAT
  2. Log in using your unique User ID and password, created at the time of filling CAT Application Form
  3. Download the CAT Hall Ticket
  4. Take the printout of the same

CAT Exam Format 2018

  • There will be 100 questions of both MCQ and Non-MCQ nature.
  • The paper will consist of 3 sections- Quantitative Ability, Verbal & Reading Comprehension, and Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning.
  • CAT 2018 will be held in November in online mode.
  • For every accurate response, +3 marks will be honored. -1 mark will be deducted for each inaccurate response.

CAT 2018 Result

CAT Result 2018 is expected to be declared in January 2019. Aspirants can check their CAT 2018 Result on the official website. Post declaration of result, each IIM will announce their separate cut-offs. On the basis of cut-offs, aspirants will be called for Group Discussion and Individual Interview rounds for the admission procedure.

How to download CAT Scorecard?

  3. Enter your roll number and date of birth
  4. Check your CAT result

After the declaration of CAT Result, aspirants can check the merit list on respective IIMs for admissions. Also, each IIM will send interview letters to shortlisted aspirants straight for GD/PI rounds.

CAT 2018 Expected Cutoff

The cut-off for the IIMs is very high, ranging in the bracket of 90-99 percentiles. The expected CAT 2018 cutoff will not very much from the cut-off trend of the last year. The below-given table gives the expected cut-off in different top B- schools:

Selection Process of CAT 2018

The selection procedures post CAT Exam are organized by the IIM’s separately for the shortlisted aspirants. The three stages of selection are given below:

  1. Written Ability Test: Aspirants are given one or more topics on which they need to write a brief essay in time period 15 minutes to 45 minutes. In recent years, IIMs have been known to prefer Written Ability Test over Group Discussion.
  2. Group Discussion: The second stage is a called GD in which 8-10 aspirants are given a topic to discuss. This round is held to reach the group dynamics of them.
  3. Interview: This is the final round of selection in which an aspirant has to current himself before a panel of 4-8 interviewers. This round is set to test the academic background, work experience, hobbies, interests etc. of the aspirants.
