Institute of Mass Communication Film & Television Studies was founded in the year 2002 in Kolkata for offering vocational programs in the field of media. The Institute functions in affiliation with the University of Kalyani and approved by the Department of Higher Education (Government of West Bengal) and University Grants Commission. Doctor Pabitra Sarkar is the President of this Institute which offers specialized courses in mass communication, advertising, film studies, journalism, audio visual communication and public relations. The Institute has signed an institutional membership with the British Council of India and associate membership with the Indus Foundation of USA.

Provision of ‘Earn While You Learn’ Scheme The Institute of Mass Communication Film & Television Studies in West Bengal offers ‘Earn While You Learn’ scheme, wherein the students are invited to make contributions through content writing assignments, still photography or video footage for the web portal INDI TV and the magazine – ‘The Scanner’. This arrangement is a paid internship where the students get paid at the end of the project.
