About College

Recognized as an academic institute of national importance, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is the oldest and most prestigious institutions focused on statistics. With its headquarters at Kolkata, ISI has four subsidiary centres at Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Tezpur along with several smaller units in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Giridih, Pune and Vadodara. The Institute provides adequate hostel and residential facilities for its students as well as faculty members at all of its centers.

The university offers selective undergraduate and graduate programmes to its students every year along with two PG Diploma courses and Research fellowships. All the courses are conducted under the odd/ even semester system by the institute. Except for sponsored candidates in case of M.Tech courses, ISI students are not required to pay any tuition fees.

ISI Kolkata awards Ph.D degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Quantitative Economics, Computer Science, and Quality, Reliability and Operations Research, to eligible research fellows. In addition to it, the institute also offers PG Diploma, Certificate courses and Research Fellowships (JRF/SRF) to suitable candidates.

ISI Kolkata Admissions

The institute conducts admission drive for UG, PG and Research programs in Mathematics and Statistics disciplines. The application process begins in the month of February every year. Candidates seeking admission will be required to appear for the written entrance exam and interview, both conducted by the university in the month of May. The academic year usually starts in July every year.

In few cases, candidates may get called for the interview directly such as applicants of M.Tech in Computer Science who possess excellent GATE score. Also, candidates of research fellowship programmes who have already qualified for a fellowship from CSIR or NBHM, can directly appear in an interview.

ISI Kolkata Results

ISI Entrance Exam Results

ISI Kolkata usually publishes the entrance exam result for UG/ PG/ PG Diploma/ Certificate/ PhD admissions within few days from the test. Candidates can check their names from the official university website by downloading the “ISI Admissions Result” file available in PDF format under the “Admissions” section.

Candidates seeking admission to M.Tech (Computer Science) can also verify their selection for direct interview on the basis of GATE Score through the corresponding link provided under the “Admission” section.

ISI Semester Results

The university follows odd and even semester pattern for all its courses. End-semester examinations are usually conducted in the months of December and July for odd and even semesters, respectively. The results are published on the university website usually within few days from the end semester examinations.

ISI Kolkata Library

ISI Kolkata houses the Central library containing over 200,000 volumes of books and journals with a special emphasis on the field of statistics and related studies. The main branch also has a collection of official reports, reprints, maps, and microfilms. The Library has databases on CD-ROM and is working on further digitization of the collection.

ISI Kolkata Annual Student Fest

Integration is the annual techno-cultural fest of Indian Statistical Institute, usually held during the first and second weekend of January each year. It is one of the biggest student fests in Kolkata, and attracts participation from all over the world.

The Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata currently holds 2nd position in Computer Science research among all universities in India.
