Hindu college is acknowledged as one of the premier & esteemed academic colleges in the country. It was founded in the year 1899 by Late Shri Krishan Dassji Gurwale (Nationalist struggler). In the beginning years, it was affiliated to Punjab University as there was no Delhi University at that time. Presently it is affiliated to Delhi University.

Library: The campus library is open to all part-time and full-time students, as well as teachers and other members of the staff. It has large collection of journals, weeklies & periodicals. The library has covered three floors having 100,000 books excluding the magazines & journals.
Sports: The college has an extensive playground for playing games like Cricket, table tennis, lawn tennis, basketball and swimming area.
Cricket team: The cricket team of Hindu College is renowned, both for its talent and for the players it has produced. Some well-known cricket players who played on this team include Ajay Jadeja, Murali Karthik, Gautam Gambhir Vinay Lamba, Ashish Nehra, and Deep Dasgupta

Scholarships:
1. Premvati Raghubir Singh Scholarships
Two scholarships, of the value of Rs.775/-, awarded every year among resident students who have obtained a First Division in the last examination taken and are in need of financial help. The scholarship money may be utilized for the payment of hostel charges, purchase of books etc.
2. R.B. Ram Kishan Dass Scholarships
Twenty-five scholarships, of the value of Rs. 1000/- each, out of a donation made by R.B. Ram Kishan Dass, awarded every year to needy and deserving students of the College provided they have secured at least 55% marks in the last examination taken and are not recipients of any other scholarship. Scholarships will usually be tenable for one year.
3. Ch. Bhagwan Sahai Chauhan Memorial Scholarships
(a) One scholarship, of Rs. 300/-, awarded every year to the student joining M.A. Sanskrit/ Hindi (Prev. and Final) securing the highest marks amongst those getting a First Division.
(b) One scholarship, of Rs. 300/-, awarded every year to a Chauhan Rajput student of B.A.(Hons.) I/II/III Year of Arts / Humanities who has secured a good division in the last examination taken.
4. Rai Achhru Ram Scholarships
Four scholarships, of the value of Rs.850/- each, awarded every year on merit to M.A./ M.Sc. students of the College. Two scholarships are for the Previous, and two for the Final year, class respectively. They will in the first instance, be awarded to Jain (Agarwal) students securing the highest percentage of marks and at least a second division in the examination concerned. In the absence of suitable Jain students, the scholarships may be awarded to Agarwal students fulfilling the required condition. In the absence of suitable Jain or Agarwal students, these may be awarded to other college students possessing the necessary qualification.
