Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU) has provideed UG courses in various specializations especially for students belongs to Tamil Nadu & Puducherry. The University’s activities regarding admission have been divided into two sessions Calendar year & the Academic one i.e. commencing in January & July respectively. TNOU University has founded Learning Resource Centres (LRC), Psychotherapy Centres & Programme Study Centres (PSC) to deliver education to their students.

  • The students must have passed Pre- University Examination & need to have attained the age of 18 years as in the year of admission. These students further need the TNOU - BPP in the first year.
  • Aspirants looking for admission shall need to have passed the 10+2 or Equivalent Examination organizeed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

B.Com , B.Sc & BCA

Bachelor of Commerce (B. These students further need the TNOU - BPP in the first year.

BCA (Simultaneous Registration):

Current year Students Registered Under Lateral Entry Scheme of Diploma in Information Technology and Diploma in Computer Engineering from recognised Polytechnic Colleges are applicable to apply.

BCA (Lateral Entry):

Students must have passed Diploma in any stream from recognised university.

Note: Those students who have not undergone any formal education or have not finished 10+2 successfully may seek admission in Under Graduate programmes offered they must have attained 18 years of age at the time of admission. How to Apply for B.A/B.Com/B.Sc and other Under Graduate Courses

BA , B.Com & B.Sc

Students can apply for any of the session January or July according to their interest. The student needs to enclose the TNOU copy of the challan with application form & send it to the University’s address or to the respective study centre.

The respective bank will keep the bank copy of challan & return the TNOU & student copy of the challan to the student. The fee needs to be paid in the University only.
  • Students can remit the fee in any State Bank or Indian Bank discipline by using the photocopy of the fee remittance challan enclosed with the prospectus. They have to fill the separate application with respect to Calendar or Academic session.

    • University’s sales counters on payment of INR 100 as cash.

    • Students must fill the application form & pay the requisite amount of fee in community college only with respect to the programme applied.
    • Before filling the application form students are advised to go via the OMR application form’s instructions first.

    Admission Procedure for B.A/B.Com/B.Sc and other Under Graduate Courses

    BA , B.Com & BCA

    • To coordinate the activities among Study centres & University, separate zonal centres also have been founded. These zonal centres act as a link between the two.
    • After obtaining the application form at the desired study centre, authorities shall issue the acknowledgement card to the student & the Zonal centres will send the documents after scrutiny to the Admission wing of the university. The aspirant shall apply in the prescribed application Form, for admission along with the challans for INR 300/- enclosing a copy of the disability certificate.

      University will first confirm the information offered by the student & will issue the ID card.
    • Study material for all courses has been offered by the study centres after generation enrollment number for the student. Important information need to be furnished from aspirant’s side are:

      1. Participant’s Savings Bank Account No.
      2. Name of the Bank & Discipline

      Scholarship form with all details needs to be sent to the Director, SSSD, TNOU.

      Note: Initially, you have to pay the tuition fee after due scrutiny the applications for scholarships will be forwarded to the respective Government Departments for sanction of the scholarships.

      Differently -abled students studying a Programme at the University are applicable for tuition fee concession. For problem regarding dispatch of study material or any other issue you may contact to:
    • TNOU has founded a fixed number of study centres within Tamil Nadu state to assist students for whole admission process & learning activities.
    • If a student has not opted for any study centre then the university will allow the nearest location to the student according to his/her address.

    Scholarship Details:

    SC/ST students, if not employed in any organization/firm or institute but seeking to pursue distance education especially in formal branches are applicable for reimbursement of the non-refundable fees offered the annual income of their parents does not exceed INR 1,00,000/.

    These students can obtain the scholarship form from the Offices of Adi Dravidar/Tribal Welfare Department of TNOU.
