Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU)is a state university which specializes in teachers' education. It is a unique university of this kind, for it is the first and only one University in India, which is solely founded for promoting excellence in teachers education. It has more than 700 affiliated colleges which consist of Government/ Government-Aided/ Self-Financing Colleges of Education.
The university provides the following 4 programmes in most of its affiliated colleges:
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.)
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
Master of Education (M.Ed.)
For admission to M.Ed. / Ph.D. / M.Phil. programme, the student must possess the qualifying degree in the relevant stream. Interested aspirants can apply by submitting duly filled-in applications, along with necessary enclosures and processing fee, before the last specified date.
Final selection of the aspirant for M.Ed. and M.Phil. Programme will be done on the basis of his/her performance in the qualifying degree examination. For Ph.D. admissions, an entrance test will be organized by the related department and aspirants will be shortlisted on the basis of the marks scored.

TNTEU M.Ed. Admissions 2018 Eligibility Criteria
The following section contains information regarding eligibility criteria for various courses provideed by TNTEU.
M.Ed
Aspirant should have passed Bachelor’s Degree Examination in Education of this University or some other University recognised as equivalent thereto, with minimum 50% marks in theory and practical separately.
Ph.D. (Education)
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) – Full-Time
Aspirant should have obtained Master Degree with 50% marks or Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree with 55% marks of this University or any other University recognised as equivalent thereto
Aspirant who have finished M.A. Education with 55% prior to January 1, 1991, from this university or any other University approved by Syndicate of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University are also applicable to apply for the course
Note: A relaxation of 5% in the at least need aggregate is offerd for aspirants belonging to SC/ST/Physically Challenged category
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) – Part-Time
Aspirants should have passed M.Ed. degree course after B.Ed. and with the general Graduate/Post graduate qualification under 10+2+3+2 / 11+1+3+2.
For Internal aspirants:
Aspirant want admission to Ph.D. (Part-time) programme should possess two years of teaching experience in the affiliated Colleges of Education of TNTEU or any other University as recognised by TNTEU.
Period of the programme for aspirants without M.Phil. degree – 3 years
Period of the programme for aspirants with M.Phil. degree – 2 years
For External aspirants:
Aspirants possessing requisite qualifications from any other University recognised by the Tamil Nadu Teacher’s Education University Syndicate as equivalent thereto, and employed in National/State level institutions, Universities, Research and Development (R&D) Centers are applicable for admission to the Ph.D. programme on a Part-time basis as external aspirants.
M.Phil. (Education)
Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) – Full-Time (1 year)

Eligibility:
Aspirants shall be need to have obtained a at least of 55 % of marks in their Post-Graduate Degree in Education. A relaxation of 5% marks is offerd for aspirants belonging to SC/ST category.
Aspirants should have qualified for M.Ed. degree of this university or any university recognised by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto prior to January 1, 1991.
Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) – Part-Time (2 years)
Eligibility:
Teacher aspirants working in affiliated colleges or in Departments of the University or in Polytechnic approved by the Department of Technical Education or in approved Higher Secondary Schools and High Schools under State Board or Central Board or Education Instructors of Indian Armed Force who possess the M.Ed. degree with minimum 55% marks are applicable for admission to Part-time M.Phil. Programme.
TNTEU M.Ed. Admissions 2018 How to Apply
M.Ed & M.Phil/Ph.D in Education
Aspirants want admission to M.Ed. / Ph.D./ M.Phil. programme can download the prescribed application form available at the university website and submit it upon completion to the University office along with the procedureing fee.
Application forms can also be obtained from the University office in person on payment of the prescribed fee by means of Demand Draft (DD). DD should be drawn in favour of “The Registrar, Tamilnadu Teachers Education University,” payable at Chennai 600 005.
In case of Ph.D admissions, duly filled-in applications should be countersigned by the principal and proposed guide where the aspirant has proposed to do the Ph.D. Research work.

For OC/BC/MBC aspirants: Rs.750/-
For SC/ST aspirants: Rs.350/-
For M.Phil. application form
For OC/BC/MBC aspirants: Rs.500/-
For SC/ST aspirants: Rs.250/-
Note: SC/ST aspirants should also produce copy to the Community Certificate to avail the exemption in the application fee.
TNTEU M.Ed. Admissions Procedure 2018
The following section contains information regarding selection procedure for various courses provideed by the university.
M.Ed
Selection of aspirants for admission to M.Ed. degree programme shall be based on their performance in the qualifying degree examination.
Ph.D. (Education)
Admissions to the Ph.D. programme will be made purely on the basis of entrance test of 50 marks (Written - 40, Oral - 10) which will be organizeed by the respective department / college / Institution. The aspirant should secure minimum 25 marks out of 50 in the entrance test to become applicable for admission.
The aspirant with the fellowship from the UGC, CSIR etc. / Project Fellow recruited in the major research project from funding agency / and teachers working in affiliated colleges shall be exempted from appearing for the entrance test.
M.Phil. (Education)
Selection of aspirants for admission to M.Phil. programme shall be based on their performance in the qualifying degree examination.
TNTEU M.Ed. Admissions 2018 Reservation Criteria
For aspirants belonging to SC, ST, MBC / DNC, BC, and other special categories, reservation of seats and other exemptions are granted in accordance with the statutory provisions of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
