Nizam’s Institute of Medical Scienceswas founded in the year 1887 which was a result of the amalgamation of Hyderabad school and Madarsa-i-Aliya. Nizam’s is the most reputed and oldest institution imparting higher education in South India. Nizam’s was affiliated to the Madras University for around 60 years and after that, it was made a Constituent College of Osmania University on February 19th in the year 1947.
NIMS provides different courses and invites application for Ph. D courses for the year. Students will be selected on the basis of the merit in an entrance examination which is administered by the University “NIMS University M. Phil./ Ph. D Admission Test (NIMS MPAT). NIMS University provides Ph. D courses under regular method only.
The aspirants, who have already passed NET/JRF/GATE/SLET/M. Phil exam, do not have to give the entrance exam that is organizeed by NIMS University. The University does not offer distance education courses under M. Phil./Ph. D courses.

Aspirants applying for Ph.D. in NIMS must have the following:
Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences subjects.
An aspirant should have appeared in any of the following exams: CSIR/UGC JRF-NET or ICMR Junior Research Fellowship or screening test organizeed by the university.
Note: For part-time Ph.D. program the aspirants required to show a Memorandum of Understanding between the collaborating organisation and NIMS.
Qualification for Guides:
Eligibility for Internal Guides is as follows:
Professors at NIMS and senior faculty members with a degree in DM/ M.Ch/DNB/MD/MS or Ph.D. are applicable to be Guides for Ph.D. aspirants.
They should also fulfil the following criteria:
At least 3 paper articles publish as first author and minimum 5 paper articles published as co-author.
Not less than 15 years’ experience in teaching or research.
Eligibility for External Guides:
The external guides must have:
MOU with recognized institutions only.
At least 3 paper articles publish as first author and minimum 5 paper articles published as the co-author in indexed journals. (National/International Index journals)
Not less than 10 years of experience as a faculty

Along with the hard copy of the application form that has been downloaded from the website, you have to send two recent passport size photographs and a Demand Draft of INR 2,500/- which has to be drawn in favour of NIMS University and will be payable at Jaipur.
The application form that you have downloaded from the website, has to be sent to “Registrar, NIMS University, Shobha Nagar, Jaipur Delhi Highway (NH-11C), Jaipur- 303121, Rajasthan”.

The selection of the aspirants will be on the basis of the merit list of the entrance exam followed by an interview which is organizeed by the university. The aspirants will be selected in accordance with the availability of seats in the course or program. Aspirants are advised to discuss their interest in the area of research. The final assessment and interview may last for two or more days.
Every selected aspirant has to pass the medical test which will state that the aspirant is medically fit for getting admission. The aspirants whose medical report will state that he/she is medically unfit will not be selected for admission in any respect.
Following are the points of reservation which the university follows:
85% seats are reserved for local aspirants and the remaining 15% seats are reserved for both local and non-local aspirants.
BC (A): 7%, BC (B): 10%, BC (C): 1%, BC (D): 7%, BC (E): 4%, ST: 6% and SC: 15%. Total 50% seats are reserved for the BC/SC/ST.
33.3% seats are reserved for women aspirants in each course available.
5% seats are available for the NIQ Quota
60% seats are available for the students who had commerce as a subject and are want admission in B.Com. Rest of the 40% seats are reserved for both the commerce and non-commerce streams.
Reservation is given to the aspirants falling in the category that comprises NCC: 2%, Games and Sports: 2%, Extra-curricular activities: 1%, Children of Ex-servicemen and Armed Personnel: 1% and physically challenged: 3%.
1 seat is reserved for an In-service aspirant of NIMS offered the aspirant must qualify the entrance exam/ requisite qualification.
