Mumbai University (MU) is the oldest University which was founded in 1857 and situated at Mumbai, Maharashtra and one of the first three universities in India. Several private colleges in and around Mumbai are affiliated to MU. It has found its name in industrial & International collaborations and runs different professional courses. At the national level, it has excelled in sports, cultural and out-access activities. The University was accorded 5-star status in 2001 & 'A' grade status in April 2012 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It has been granted University with Potential for Excellence (UPE) status by UGC and PURSE Scheme by DST.
In the last five years, it has seen 104% increase in undergraduate students. The University of Mumbai is one of the largest universities in the world in terms of the number of students. Moreover, eighteen National/International awards have been won by the teachers in the last five years. More than eighty of its teachers are on different professional bodies.
The University invites applications for different undergraduate courses for the academic year. These courses are provideed in the Faculty of Arts, Science, Commerce, Performing Arts and Fine Arts. The applications for the programmes are available on the University website and must be submitted.

You should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (Academic or Vocational Stream) organizeed by various Divisional Boards of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or an Examinations of any another University or Body recognised as equivalent thereof by the Senate of the University of Mumbai.
Bachelor of Arts [BA] (German) & Bachelor of Arts [BA] + Master of Arts [MA] (Russian)
For Russian: You should have passed the HSC (Class 12th of the Maharashtra State Board) or equivalent exam with an at least of 50% aggregate marks.
For German: You should fulfil any of the following criteria:
You should have passed a Degree Examination of the University of Mumbai or a University recognised by this University.
Bachelor of Mass Media [B.M.M.]
You should have passed Class 12th Examination of Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent from the Science, Arts or Commerce Stream.
Bachelor of Education [B.Ed] (Special Education) (Learning Disability) & Bachelor of Education [B.Ed] (Special Education) (Mental Retardation)
For all courses: You must have passed a Bachelor’s degree examination of this University in any faculty or a corresponding degree examination of any other University recognised as equivalent thereto.
For Learning Disability: You should have passed a Bachelor’s degree examination of this University in any faculty or a corresponding degree examination of any other University recognised as equivalent thereto with an at least of 50% aggregate in the qualifying degree examination.
Bachelor of Performing Arts [BPA]
You should have passed the two-year Establishation course in dance or the Higher Secondary Certificate examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary/Higher Secondary Education or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto.
Bachelor of Music
You must have passed the Diploma in Music of this University or an examination of another University/Body recognised as equivalent thereto in the respective discipline.
B.Ed & B.P.Ed
You should have a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized University.
B.Com
You should have passed Class 12th Examination of the Maharashtra Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent and secured not less than 45% marks for general category and 40% marks in case of reserved category.
B.Sc & B.Sc (Aviation)
You should have passed the Higher-Secondary School Certificate Examination (H.S.C.) with English being one of the subjects, organizeed by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or an Examination of the another University or any other Board recognised as equivalent thereto with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate for general category and 45% marks in case of Backward class category (from the Maharashtra State only).
You should log on to the official website of the University and select the link for “Pre- Admission Online Registration” offered on the upper right corner of the homepage.
You should then click on “Apply Online” and register yourself by entering your authentic details in the relevant fields and click on “Register”.
You will receive a verification code and a link on your mobile via SMS in some time. You must log in with your verification code, enter all the specific particulars on the online application form.
You should attach your recent passport size colour photograph of dimensions 35mm x 45 mm with at least 72 to maximum 150 DPI resolution.
Registration Fee: You should pay the Registration fee of Rs. 150 via a Demand Draft in favour of “The Finance and Accounts Officer, University of Mumbai” payable at Mumbai.
You should then submit the Application online.
Once you fill the Application Form successfully and apply, you will have to submit/send the print out of the Application Form along with necessary documents to every course-college separately for which you have applied.
You will be selected on the basis of merit.
Bachelor of Education [B.Ed], Bachelor of Education [B.Ed] (Special Education) (Learning Disability) & Bachelor of Education [B.Ed] (Special Education) (Mental Retardation)
You will be selected on the basis of Common Entrance Test organizeed by the University. Your selection will be made in the order of merit. The questions will be objective type, covering the following four sections: General Mental Ability, General Knowledge, General English, Broad aspects of general education and special education. The total marks for the entrance examination will be 100 marks and the period of the examination will be of 90 minutes.
Bachelor of Performing Arts [BPA]
For Bachelor of Performing Arts Programme: Your selection will be subject to a Preliminary test to be administered by the Institute related.
Bachelor of Music
For Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.): Your selection of the course will be subject to you passing an audition test organizeed by the Head of the Institutions where you seek admission.
If you have passed the Diploma in Music examination in ‘A’ Grade or above, you are exempted from this audition test.
BFA
You will be selected on the basis of an Entrance-Aptitude Test prescribed by the University and organizeed by the college/institution related. The test will be based on 3 sections: ‘Object Drawing’ for a period of 1 hour, ‘Design’ for a period of 1 hour and 30 minutes and ‘Memory Drawing’ for a period of 1 hour and 15 minutes.
If you secure an “A” grade in Intermediate Drawing Grade Examination, you will obtain 10 marks. For ‘B’ grade, marks and for “C” grade, no marks.
