Master of Computer Applications (MCA) is a Programme of three years period consisting of six semesters. This course is intended to train graduates in Engineering, Science or Commerce with Mathematics as one of the subjects, in development and use of software for various applications. There are the total of 9 colleges under Kerala University that offer MCA course, namely: The course mainly focuses on giving students a strong grip on computing, business functions, and mathematics relevant to Information Technology.

Eligibility Criteria for Kerala University MCA Program


  • Academic: Aspirants should have studied a Degree course with at least 3 years duration (after 10+2), with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Computer Applications/ Engineering and Technology as a Main/ Subsidiary/ Core subject at the Degree level.
  • Nativity: The aspirant must be an Indian Citizen.

The aspirant should have secured an at least aggregate of 50% (45% for SEBC  and physically handicapped) marks in their Degree examination. For SC/ST aspirants, an at least pass in the degree examination is sufficient.

Note: 1. The aspirant should be qualified from any University in Kerala or any other Universities, recognised by any of the Universities in Kerala.

  1. Final Year regular Bachelor’s Degree students are also permitted to appear for the Entrance Examination subject to the condition that the original degree certificate and mark lists of all parts of the qualifying examination shall be produced by at the time of admission.

Categorization Of Seats:

The seats are mainly divided into three categories, namely:

  • Management: These seats are set apart in Aided / Self-financing institutions to be filled up by the Management related on the basis of the Supreme Court direction and Government Orders on this behalf.
  • Government: These seats are allotted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) based on the rank list.
  • Lapsed: These seats may be filled up by the institution itself when the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations intimates that he would not be allotted any more aspirants against such seats.

How to Apply for Kerala University MCA Program


  • Aspirants have to apply online via the website of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. Application Fee for General and SEBC aspirants is Rs.800/-. For SC/ST aspirants the application fee is Rs.400/-.
  • In the application, the aspirant has to write the challan number, date of payment, fee amount, Bank discipline, put his/her signature below the declaration and send the same by Registered Post/Speed Post/Hand Delivery to
  • The certificates mentioned under 'Certificates Necessary', print out of the form, and fee challan from State Bank of Travancore are to be sent to the office.
  • Take print out of the filled application form and affix a passport sized photograph, and get the form attested by a gazetted officer.

Certificates Necessary:

The following certificates are compulsory to be sent along with the application form:

  1. Original Challan/DD towards remittance of application fees.
  2. A true copy of the S.S.L.C book or any other relevant record to prove date of birth.
  3. The true copy of the degree certificate & mark lists of the qualifying examination (if passed).
  4. Anyone of the certificates to prove nativity.
  5. Income & Community Certificates in support of SEBC/OEC claim (original).
  6. Community Certificate in support of SC/ST claim (in original).
  7. Inter-Caste marriage certificate in the prescribed pattern, if eligible (original).
  8. Copy of Certificate from the Medical Board for Persons with Disabilities, duly attested by a Gazetted officer.
  9. Copy of BPL Certificate allowed by Competent LSG Authority, duly attested by Gazetted Officer (Eligible to forward community aspirants, claiming BPL reservation).
  10. Any other documents mentioned in the Notification of the Entrance Examination.

Admission Procedure for Kerala University MCA Program


  • Entrance examination will be organized by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations for the selection of aspirants for admission to MCA Course. All aspirants who are applicable for admission and whose application have been accepted will be allowed to appear for the Entrance Examination. The allocations will be strictly based on the options practiced, the rank obtained and applicable reservations of the aspirant.
  • The Allocation Procedure will be done via a Single Window System (SWS) of Allocation to give allocations to the different colleges under Govt. should produce, at the time of the interview, a relieving order and a certificate of good organize from the Head of the office where the participant is employed.

Documents need at Time of Admission:

  1. Hall Ticket of the Entrance Examination.
  2. SSLC or any relevant school records to prove date of birth.
  3. Originals of Degree Certificate and Mark list of all parts of the qualifying exam.
  4. Originals of Certificates, the copies of which are enclosed with the Application Form.
  5. Transfer certificate and organize certificate from the institution where the aspirant studied last.
  6. Two copies of passport size photograph of the aspirant.
  7. Aspirants who passed their qualifying examination from Universities/Boards outside the State shall produce “Eligibility Certificate / Equivalency Certificate” from any of the Universities in Kerala.
  8. The participant who is employed or a trainee in Government service, Scheduled Bank etc. Control based on the options submitted online by the aspirants who have been comprised in the rank list. The Entrance Examination will be of two hours period and will be organized at selected venues in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Kozhikode.
  9. The student who qualifies from other universities should produce migration certificate at the time of admission.
