Alagappa Universityis a pioneer of higher studies in the state of Tamilnadu. The University provides Regular, Weekend, Distance and Collaborative programs in a variety of branches. It has a total of 15 learning centres, 29 educational departments, 2 constituent colleges and 10 development and study centres.
Presently, the university provides PG programs in 42 varied branches of Arts, Commerce, Science, technology, Management, and Education. Apart from other post-graduate courses, the University also provides a Master of Bank Management program which is a special course aimed to enrich education in the field of banking management including other management specializations.
For admission to any of the Post Graduate programs, an aspirant must have an undergraduate degree in a relevant branch. The University organizes entrance test for admission to MBA, MCA, and M.Sc. Biotechnology courses. For all other Post Graduate programs, the university will take admission on the basis of a merit list.

An aspirant with a graduate degree in 10+2+3 format is applicable to apply for admission to this course.
MCA
Duration: 3 years
Eligibility Criteria for MCA Programme
Or an aspirant must have a B.Sc. Degree in Physics/Chemistry/Electronics with Mathematics as the mandatory subject
Or an aspirant should possess an equivalent qualification with 60% marks (55% for SC/ST)
An aspirant must have a first class Degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Applied Sciences/Computer Science/Information Technology

For admission to MCA weekend program, an aspirant must fulfil any of the following criteria:

Eligibility for M.Sc. Programme except for M.Sc. Biotechnology:
Computer Science: Aspirants with a B.Sc. Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Electronics or B.C.A. or any other equivalent qualification in a 10+2+3 format with 55% marks in part-III (for SC/ST aspirants 50%) is applicable to apply.
Chemistry: A aspirant with a B.Sc. Degree in Chemistry/Special Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/Textile Chemistry/Electro Chemistry/Applied Chemistry or any other specialization in Chemistry as the main subject of study and must have studied any two of Mathematics, Physics, Botany, Zoology, Computer Applications, Microbiology, Textile Chemistry. Electro Chemistry or Applied Chemistry as mandatory subjects with an at least of 55% in Part III, (for SC/ST aspirants 45%) are applicable to apply.
Mathematics: Aspirants with a B.Sc. degree in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics or Special Mathematics are applicable to apply.
Bioinformatics: Students with Bachelor Degree in Biological Sciences (Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics agricultural/Veterinary/Fisheries Sciences/Pharmacy/Engineering/ Technology or any other equivalent Degree with minimum 50% of marks in major and allied subject both in theory & Practical) in all 3 years are applicable to apply.
Bio-electronics: Students with B.Sc. in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Biotechnology, Zoology, Botany or B.E. in Chemical Engineering, Electronics and Communications with an aggregate of 55% or GPA of 7 are applicable to apply.
Physics: Aspirants with a B.Sc. degree in Physics, Applied Science, Special Physics or Electronics with at least of 55% in Part III (for SC/ST aspirants 45%) are applicable to apply.
Nanoscience & Technology: Aspirants with B.Sc. in (Mathematics), Physics, Biology as main subject or B.Sc.in Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics Electronics, Nuclear Physics, Bio-Physics, Industrial Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biotechnology, Nanobiotechnology, Biochemistry and Microbiology or any other Specialization in Mathematics/Physics, Chemistry and Biology are applicable to apply.
Energy Science: Students with B.Sc. in Physics, Energy Science, Applied Physics, Electronics, Nuclear Physics, Bio-Physics, Nanoscience, Chemistry or Botany or Zoology with Mathematics at +2 level with at least of 55% in part-III (for SC/ST aspirants 45%) are applicable to apply.
Zoology: Those with a Bachelor Degree in Biological Sciences, (Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Veterinary Science, and Fisheries Science, Pharmacy or equivalent degree) with minimum 50% marks are applicable for application to this program.
Oceanography & Coastal Area Studies: Students with B.Sc. Zoology/Botany/Chemistry/Fishery Science/Earth Science/Physics/Agriculture/Microbiology/Biotechnology/Geology /Aquaculture/Applied sciences or any other equivalent qualification in the concerned branches with minimum 50% marks (for SC/ST 45%) are applicable to apply.
Master of Science [M.Sc] (Biotechnology)
Aspirants who have a Bachelor degree in Physical Sciences (Physics & Chemistry), Biological Sciences(Botany& Zoology)/Biochemistry/ Microbiology/ Biotechnology, Agricultural, Veterinary, Fisheries Sciences, Pharmacy/ Engineering /Technology or equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks are applicable to apply.
M.Com
An aspirant with a B.Com/BBM/BBA/ B.A Corporate Secretaryship, B.A Economics with accountancy as one of the subject is applicable to apply for M.Com. the program at Alagappa University.
MA
For admission to MA program, an aspirant must fulfil one of the following eligibility criteria:
Aspirants with B.A/B. Lit Degree with Tamil or B.A., B.Sc., under Part I or Part III are applicable to apply.
Aspirants with B.A. in Economics / Business Economics / Cooperation / B.B.M. /B.B.E./ B.B.A./ B.Com./ B.Sc. Statistics and B.Sc. Mathematics are applicable to apply.
Aspirants with B.A., English Literature/B.A/ or B.Sc. with a part I – II English are applicable to apply.
Master in Banking Management [MBM]
Eligibility: A aspirant must have passed any bachelor degree from a recognised university according to 10+2+3 format.
M.P.Ed
Aspirants looking for admission in this programme must have a Bachelor degree in Physical Education (B. P. Ed).
How to apply for Post Graduate Programme?
MBA/PGDM, MCA & M.Sc
There are three various modes via which a prospective aspirant can apply for admission to the Pg programs at Alagappa University. These are as follows:
An aspirant can also obtain the application form via the post by sending a requisition letter along with DD of INR 500(INR 250 for SC/ST students) to the university’s address.
An aspirant can obtain the application form from Alagappa University’s campus on payment of application fee via Demand Draft of INR 500 (INR 250 for SC/ST students) drawn in favour of ‘The Registrar Allagappa University’ payable at Karaikudi.
Students need to submit the duly filled application form in person or by post to The Registrar Allagappa University Karaikudi within the stipulated time.
An aspirant can also download the application form from the University’s official website and submit the filled in form along with a DD of INR 500 (INR 250 for SC/ST students).
Note:
1. Students who want admission in those Post Graduate courses in which no entrance test is needed, they have to pay INR 300 (INR 150 for SC/ST) via DD as part of application form fee.
2. INR 500 (250 for SC/ST) will be taken for MCA/MBA & M.Sc courses only.
Selection Process for AU (Alagappa University) Post Graduate Admissions 2018
MBA/PGDM & MCA
An entrance test will be organizeed by Alagappa University to select deserving aspirants for these courses. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of performance in the GD and Interview.
Marks obtained in the qualifying degree will also be considered for final merit list preparation.
Shortlisted students on the basis of marks scored in the entrance exam will be called for a Group Discussion and Individual Interview. M.Sc , M.Com & MA
Marks obtained in the qualifying exam are the only criteria to get admission in these courses. After the application process is over, the University will publish a merit list on the basis of marks scored by participants in the qualifying degree.
M.P.Ed
Students will be selected on the basis of marks obtained in various sections namely Medical test, Physical Efficiency Test, Test of the game of student’s expertise & marks of qualifying degree.
Master of Science [M.Sc] (Biotechnology)
Alagappa University will organize an entrance test for admission to this course. On the basis of marks scored by participants in the entrance exam, a select few will be called for the further rounds of Group Discussion and Individual Interview. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of performance in GD and PI.
Marks obtained in the qualifying degree will also be considered for final merit list preparation.
